Konopka playing with Tendonitis

Konny has been playing with by tendinitis in his knee.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/dregerreport/

May be that's the reason his minutes have been reduced and Snow won't negotiate a new contract until the off season.

Well, Botta says to enjoy these last few games of Z because there still has been nothing on the contract front. i just dont understand it.

A. The guy said he would play for the same amount of money, 600k.
B. He LOVES it here and wants to stay.
C. The guys love him and he is a team leader.
D. Excellent on face-offs
E. Can fight.

I just don't understand what the hold up is. Is he a world beater, no? But, has he helped change things around here? IMO absolutely. I think it would be a big mistake if he is not resigned.

I was at the game last night and it was the first time I saw the pregame skate possibly all season. I was pleasantly surprised to see Z running pretty much the entire thing.

I think it would be a huge mistake to not take him on again. If they didn't try to trade him I can't see just letting him walk for nothing. Tendonitis is no reason to deny him a contract.

He is undoubtedly an older player i would want my young talent around.

Just from a purely on ice standpoint I would like to replace Z with someone who is much better defensively and someone who can PK.

If they don't resign Konopka and/or Gillies I am going to cut back on Isles related costs wherever possible next year

What if they sign someone better than Konny?

I do like his character, toughness, FO%, but he's far from perfect.

Dare I say Nate (please don't hate) is a better 4th line Center than Konny?

Whats the rush to resign him? Why must he be signed now as opposed to after the season is over?

I would say that whatever difference you could possibly argue between the two would be so insignificant in the big picture of the team that it would be pointless to do so.

It's not about that, it's about the difference I've seen in the rest of the team with him here

If Zenon is not here next year, I think you'll still see the team stick up for themselves and move on to bigger and better things without him.

I don't care when they sign him. Botta made it seem that it was a slim chance that they would.
