You're on the Caps board. It took seeing the username? Really?

That said, I'll buy the excellent goaltending, but getting repeatedly screwed the refs in none too subtle ways probably affects a team's psyche.

I don't think you were watching the right game.

Tenth time they've been shut out, one shy of the league leading Maple Leafs. This offense can get flat in a hurry when they decide to get cute and not pay the price.

just 2 shy of our team record, 12 shutouts against, in '74-75. with 7 games left, and with OV, arnott, and green still out, it's not out of the question that we add one or two more before season ends. oh well. who cares? if we do something special in playoffs, then i am happy camper. hey, where's today's GDT?

From Whyno:

Quote:
The Hendricks play in the first period, however, includes much less of a gray area. Hale looked to hit the Caps forward in the face and went to the penalty box for four minutes (because he made Hendricks bleed). But the official who made the call was overruled when the other three said a skate did the damage.

Replays showed it wasn’t a skate – “Obviously not,” Hendricks said.

Asked what his view was on the play, Hendricks was rather blunt.

“My view?” he said. “It was an Easton Synergy in my face.”
Gotta love Hendricks.

Forgettable game, with unforgettable reffing.... How does Stephane Auger still has a job? I would’ve thought after screwing Canucks the way he did his ass would have to pay for the tickets to see the games, but... this league is becoming a joke and nothing is being done about it... 2 nights in a row i have seen totally clean hits being called by these ****ing assclowns. Bradley's hit wasn’t even remotely questionable, and in MTL-Boston game Marchand had clean, open ice hit that was called too (i don’t even know what they called it). Granted, i don’t think that bad calls "did us in" this game, but i am worried about how they can be completely subjective on when to call it, and that screws up players who's bread and butter is the physical aspect of the game.
Hockey as we know it is dying...

Hey Mod, need a little Fantasy help here...do you know if Neuvirth was on the bench the whole time last night? Or did he leave for the locker room? Any help would be apprenticed. If you know the answer and have a link let me know. Either way, thanks.

No no you misunderstood me, he's a huge sens hater.

Also, which calls are you referring to? Hendricks high-stick was obvious and the Bradley hit.

2 bad calls= reason Caps got shutout? I'm not tryin to troll, being serious.

or the senators first goal? or the slash on wideman?

So right there is 6 minutes in PP time the Caps should have gotten, and a goal and 2 minutes of PP time that the sens shouldn't have had. If you don't think that 8 minutes of special teams time and a goal that should never have counted don't make a difference, you clearly don't know much about hockey, and should try finding another sport to troll other team's boards.

I can make a singular comment about the one call right? I simply stated that I maintain my position that they're collectively the worst refs in pro sports. I didn't complain that the missed high sticking call cost us the game did I? Score ZERO goals...THAT cost us the game.

I have no proof, but I distinctly remember seeing a camera shot of Varlamov and Nuevirth standing on the bench in the last minute of the game, after Varly had been pulled for an extra attacker. So it would seem as though he stayed.

LOL, the goal was legit, no evidence Greening kicked it in with kicking motion, even if considered inconclusive the call on the ice was a goal.

When you talk about the slash and such, those are plays that are arguably and happen almost ALL the time.

Penalties like the Bradley one was obvious and so was the one against Hendricks those HAD to get calls. No arguments needed. Technically it was just 4 minutes special teams.

Here i am trying to discuss something and you call me a troll. Good save buddy.

.
He kicked the puck, ran over the goalie, then kicked the puck again. Three things not called.

I don't get the energy. If it happens in the playoffs, then I'll be upset. They haven't lost any playoff series primarily due to bad officiating. (I include the bogus goalie interference calls).

I liked Bruce's attitude after the game.

They need to focus on what they can do and not act like victims.

I think it's unrealistic to pretend that, in the midst of facing a goalie that's stopping everything coming his way and being demoralized somewhat by that (Caps outchanced the Sens 16-15, I believe), that the team wouldn't be further demoralized by multiple blatant screw ups.

That's still on the players, and ultimately the lack of response from those players lost them the game, but these things still have an effect.

Not that it matters, as long as the Caps don't face the Rags in the 1st round.
