Mitchell is the key to this team anyways. As long as he stays healthy, they will be fine.

... Welp. For those who say they're not happy with Kopitar's play, not satisfied somehow with a top 10 scorer who's a potential Selke trophy winner - now you're going to find out first-hand just how good he is, and just how much he means to this hockey club.

It isn't going to be pretty.

I remember that your family is involved with the ice and I don't think anyone blames them but it is spoken as being sort of common knowledge that our ice isn't as good as allot of the ice around the league.

It can come down to so many different reasons many of which would have nothing to do with the people who work with the ice. Until you skate on every sheet around the game you can't really say how it compares to the rest.

The duck players complain about their ice too by the way, maybe it is a seasonal thing.

In the 2nd busiest building in NA (MSG), not to mention the climate, you can't expect to compare to those in Canada or other 1 team venues back east.

Oh no... I finally agree with JT Dutch.

I agree. But by the logic of some of these people the climate nor building activity should have no impact. Guess what, it does.

...

As for the ice, nobody is saying that the ice is not prepared the best way possible, but the circumstances in Staples are so tough, that best quality ice can not be expected.

That's what i'm saying. But this pissing and moaning goes on game in, game out and year in, year out. It's not gonna change.

Anyway, back to the injury.

Right but then you are agreeing that the ice could (not saying did) but could have deteriorated enough by the time Kopitar got injured to where it potentially had something to do with it.

Nobody said that it was your father or his crews fault, only speculated that rather or not the ice could have had anything to do with the injury and based on the fact that players do talk about the quality of our ice there is reason for speculation. Not blame but speculation anyways.

I don't see anyone attacking or insulting anyone.

Our team's gunna play more desperate now, too. Because they are! If nothing else, they'll stop passing & start shooting. Watch the miracle happen!

Remember that nobody is saying that it has anything to do with how the ice is prepared. In fact, who's to say that it wouldn't be unplayable if not for the efforts of your dad and his crew?

My point is that you seem to be kind of assuming that people are blaming the staff/building and not other various factors when that doesn't seem to be the case. I don't blame you for the fire, I stand up when anyone hints at knocking anyone I call family too, just saying.

The Kings are definitely going to have to play Bernier every game the rest of the way to even have a chance at winning a single game the rest of the season.

No doubt Kopitar is a key member of the team and people that have said the Kings need more from him never said he wasn't, or that he is not a talented hockey player. Get your facts straight.

This is going to have to be all about opportunity for the younger guys. Let's see how players like Lewis, Moller, and Richardson respond.

You're the last one that I thought would throw in the towel. This team doesn't play a skilled style. The offense will continue on the same pace, maybe it goes up slighty with players stepping up.

Could be good news for next season. It's a good chance for Poni and Smyth to step up and score some goals. Lewis too.

If the Kings were an offensive team, it would be all over, but we're a defensive team first. It's gonna be tough, but we can grind out victories. We just need for everyone to step in.

I know that, this isn't a case of one incident. It's a full season of "boy, this ice sucks". I've bit my tongue pretty much all season, but when someone tries to attribute it directly to an injury, that's when i've had enough.

Exactly. Murray's system will be of great use to us at this moment in time.

Its the mere fact that we don't play a skill game that I think that we still have a shot. To me it comes down to character, does the team believe that without Kopitar we can't win, that is the question.

If they still think we can win then the fact that we play a brain dead automatonic system is a good thing. Its going to take a little line juggling but that is right up Grannys alley.

Seriously, I agree completely that the fact that we don't play a skill game works in our favor and that we still have a shot.

If this team is legit, they can continue winning and even win the first round. After that imagine what kind of a boost would it be getting both Williams and Kopitar back. In my opinion it would mean Kings are the team to beat.
If Kings stop playing completely, they can't win the Cup with Kopitar either.

I think that this team plays much better when they are playing with some desperation.

I am always optimistic and I believe Kopitar will get healthy miraculously fast. Fast recovery is in the family, his father recovered from a list of injures that include 15 shoulder dislocations, spinal problems, all sorts of arm/leg related injuries, torn knee ligaments etc. Anze is much stronger built though and I believe he is one of the naturally strongest players in the league, the kind of players who experience faster recovery times. Let's hope I am right about this one.

To those that have lost all hope, just remember:

Doughty - Mitchell
Johnson - Scuderi
Green - Martinez

Quick
Bernier

This is the foundation of this season's success, and it isn't cracked or broken.

Kopitar just set a club record for consecutive games played, with half of those games being on Staples ice.

The Kings have been a relatively healthy team this season playing at Staples. Let's not blame the ice sheet for this, an injury like that could happen absolutely in any rink.

I understand.

I would just tell myself if I were you that when people are questioning the quality of the ice at the Staples center that they are directing it at the building and or other mitigating factors. I don't think most people consider the actual crew that works the ice or the fact that ice isn't actually really ice anymore.

Otherwise you'll constantly be getting angry and it seems like for the most part it isn't about your dad or his crew.

That said, I think that your dad and his crew do an excellent job. I have skated on that ice several tims since 04 and it gets better all the time.

Great point. Let's see what Martinez, Johnson and Doughty are made of

This was a tough tough game to be at. I felt like I got stabbed in the balls when he went down.

Good news is that it's a break. Also at this point I would shut Williams down and tell him to get the surgery he needs so he can rehab it for next season. No point in having him come back at only 80% and risk it when our number one guy is going to be out.
