Luke is a face, he's a tie between the fans and the business side of the sport. How much flak has the evil duo of Uncle Phil and TL gotten the last 7-10 years? Luke was brought in because he's everyone's favorite man, players love him, fans love him, everybody loves him. I'm sure his role as "President of Business Operations" is a lot more about being an ambassador for the team and hyping up projects than it is about managing budget sheets.
And as for the Briggs song, it wasn't a custom song for the Kings. It wasn't written about, for, or with any thought of the hockey team in mind. And for what it was, I'd hardly consider it a failure. I quite enjoyed the adoption of the song and the energy it brought to the arena. Beat the hell out of the Linkin Park song they were overplaying the season before.
That's all well and good, but that's only a small portion of what the President of Business Operations is supposed to be responsible for. To the best of my knowledge, he has no formal business education. I don't think that he ever went to college - did he even graduate from high school?
Call him the Ambassador or the Head of Promotions and Community Relations, but Business Operations?
As far as I know, Tim Leiweke also lacks a "formal" business education. Don't think he holds any college degrees.
Pretty sure it was Luc's idea to Uncle Lou's face in the urinals when New Jersey came to town this season. That was a winner!!
It was his idea, right? Right?
Luc is a personable guy that represents the Kings well in the Los Angeles business community. He is doing a good job in that capacity. He needs to forget about getting his buddies that the fans are not too fond of involved with the Kings. They are not going to be accepted by the fans and are better forgotten.
