Didn't we trade our spot to Anaheim to draft two 2nd rounders- Crombeen and Polak? Or was it Eriksson and Crombeen/Polak?

It's actually better that Chicago lost. Chicago has a tough schedule and missing key players. Which the Ducks passed Chicago with the win.

Granted this stuff doesn't matter much, if the Stars don't start winning now, all they have to do is having a good road trip again at least five points. Then don't blow the last four games of the season and they'll make it.

Wiki says Eriksson was drafted with Columbus' 2nd round pick, Polak with San Jose's 2nd round pick, and Crombeen with Anaheim's 2nd round pick, without much explanation. .

Did Anaheim hold SJ's 2nd rounder or Columbus' 2nd rounder or both- besides their own 2nd round pick, that is?

We traded pick #28(Perry) to Anaheim for picks #36(Polak) and #54(Crombeen). The Polak pick was acquired from San Jose by Anaheim in deal that involved Selanne. Loui was selected at #33 with a pick that was acquired from Columbus for Grant Marshall. Dallas' own second round pick was a part of the Stu Barnes deal.

Thanks...that feels so wonderful now! Perry for Polak and Crombeen! I wonder (despite my best hopes) if we made the same error with Campbell over Fowler.

A lot of teams passed up Perry because of question marks in his skating abilities and such. I'm not really bothered by it. That's the way drafting goes.

Crawford:

“Our work ethic was there tonight. We had guys battling. We made a couple of mistakes and they capitalized on a couple of those plays. It was a one-goal game. It was exactly what we thought it was going to be, we just ended up on the wrong side of it. We have to keep persevering and we will.” – Stars coach Marc Crawford

******** IMO.

Does this guy's contract end with this season or do we have him for a year longer?

weak goals let in by kari this game. not the type of goaltending performance you want in this type of game. He's got to work on his rebounds.

“There’s no time to sit and lament and get down on yourself or your team,” Richards said. “We’ve done a lot of good things over the last two weeks, but for whatever reason, it’s not going our way at certain points. If we stay positive, everything could go our way the last eight games and you get all those little breaks or those little turning points and they go your way. You never know what can happen. We’re going to stick with it. We’re not going home tonight thinking anything different than we were going into Wednesday’s game. We’re still right there.”

Maybe its time they start thinking differently. These guys keep talking about moving forward and staying positive, its a wonder if they're even learning from their mistakes. You can't just go LALALA and ignore bad games completely.

As far as I know it was concussion problems that caused him to fall.

This is an extremely levelheaded post from a guy whose handle is an oxymoron.

Grossman and Skrastins are out. Our defense was mediocre with them and its now even worse. That and Burish. These are all guys that would be out during key defensive situations. They do a pretty good job in these situations. Grossman is a rock, Skrastins is a great shot blocker, and Burish completes a great checking line and is a good faceoff guy. The Ott/Burish checking line is great because one of them can be more liberal in their cheating and if they get kicked out of the circle the other one can take his place. Woywitka is a bad defenseman and now is seeing even more ice time.

This is a team that is lacking in talent. We are pretty much on a teetering edge. When we are fully 100% healthy we are probably a playoff team. Take anyone away though and we don't have the depth to compete. The teams we are fighting for playoff positioning either have better coaching (Phoenix, Nashville) to hide their deficiencies or are spending considerably more money. All these key game we have lost have been very close. They have been one goal games. Its not like this team is getting blown out. They just aren't good enough and unfortunately until this team is sold that probably isn't going to change.

That was intended to be a tongue in cheek preview of post-game comments by the head coach...which turned out to be pretty close to reality.

The season isn't over, and I appreciate positive reinforcement as a general way of doing things, but at crunch time it would be nice to see something other than a pat on the back for effort. This time of year is about execution.
