I became a part-time Isles fan because they got Peca, so I'll sleep alright. Though Zhitnik is getting paid more than he's worth these days.

The guy can't log heavy minutes defensively anymore and had the worst +/- among starting defensmen last season.

He's an overpaid has-been.

That said, he's a quality number three guy on the depth chart of any contender. He replaces Hamrlik, not much more. A pp boost. He doesn't replace Aucoin.

I'm tired of being patient. When do the Sabres land a free agent or go to the playoffs or win a division title.

Why must we be bottom dwellars? We've been that for years already.
My only comment is that I feel your pain, and hope this all works out well for the Sabres. You guys have been loyal fans through thick and thin, and you deserve a winner.

Would you prefer that they put themselves into Butler-esque cap jail? Seriously, some of these guys are not going to see the end of their contracts but they ARE going to see all of their money.

Take a deep breath, and exhale. Repeat.

There will be players, much more affordable and possibly as productive, yet to be dealt as Stupid Money Madness grips many a GM.

And I know it's frustrating as anything.

Being a Leafs fan for, Oh I dunno, 20 years, was not a boquet of roses either. Harrold Ballard as our pedophile CEO made Bill Wirtz look like Bill Gates. Since then, things have been much better, especially recently, but the pity other fans had for you has been replaced with venomous hatred. No middle ground.

And to the Islanders with Peca.

I'm not going to sleep well tonight.
If it would make you feel any better. I'd let you take them both back if the can bring Yashin with them

Hull's skate in the crease. It's still so hard to be a Sabres fan.

I think Satan is a bigger loss than Zhitnik,

though the blueline has been in need of Pronger-like help for a while now.

Honestly, the team played its best hockey last year when both Miro and Z where on IR. In Miro's case is was Post-Deadline Disappointment Disorder.

The problem for us is the new rules will expose our lower end defensemen as being too slow. We need an upgrade there to compete and allow the forwards to produce to the same level as last year (10th in Goals For, but 22nd in Goals Against). Without some kind of help on the blueline both of those numbers are going to get significantly worse.

Hmm...wasn't Zhitnik one of the top guys in the league in terms of ice time. Seems like he was always on the ice for the Sabres (keeping in mind they didn't have anyone else to eat up time like the Islanders do..or use to).

25 mpg total with 17+ being even strength time and 4 shorthanded.

I think that the worst part as a Sabres fan is watching how teams within the NE division are signing decent players, or at least having rumours linking them to signing decent players. As I posted on the Sabres board, between rumours and actual signings, the NE division is adding Leetch, Allison, Lindros, Leclair, etc. It was already the best and strongest division in the NHL, and it only appears to be that the teams are getting stronger....except for Buffalo.

The Sabres only need to add one top-4 d-man and there are a variety of options left. There's no need to rush into anything right now or throw cash at washed-up garbage like Hatcher, Amonte, Lindros, etc. or at overrated players like Aucoin, Zhitnik, etc. The Sabres will be young and competitive sporting a $27M-ish payroll. The future looks relatively bright.

They'll be young and ******.This team missed the playoffs last year with Zhitnik,Satan and co.What expects you for them to make the playoffs when the whole division has improved, when we still are just waiting around with our ****'s in our hand.Well,if we're going to be bad,we may as well tank good this time and finish in the bottom 5,instead of just missing the playoffs and getting a 12 or 13 pick.

Unless something drastic happens, I'm there with ya, brotha.

Your first point in particular is the one that bothers me the most. 8 games against each divisional opponent this year. That's 32 games against teams that are improving steadily.

Sabres & Caps seem like the only 2 teams that will be dead in the water this year
