He just listed what they are making currently. I don't think he would be offering everyone the exact same salary they are making now...

I put forward a price range instead. Meaning that I don't think the player would take less than that and I'm not willing to give more...

I find it amazing that people want to keep guys like Hamrlik and Darche.

We need to move on from these types of players.

Darche was doing fine before his injury, and was one of the few front of net presences we had, if not the only one. 21 pts in 54 games for 550k... sign me up.

Hammer I would move on from unless he took a major pay cut and accepted a limited role.

Darche was the only guy crashing the net on the PP (along with Gionta a few times).

Am I the only one who thinks that Gorges isn't worth 3M, especially not as a RFA?

Even as a UFA he isn't worth $3m. There is a reason Sopel was traded off the Hawks with a 2.33m cap hit as a shut down dman.

Look at Hal Gill, he was making 2.0 with the Pens when they won and they let him go rather than pay him $2.25m

You need to be careful with your defensive dmen and not overpay them. Gorges is making $1.1m this season for a reason. To suggest he is worth 3 times as much money next year is ludacris.

No ............... 2.5 is a stretch. Realistically he's had one good year and contributes little offensively. I don't even like him as a top 4 because in the long run I think he would wear down substantially. I'd keep either Gorges or Gill as a shutdown guy at no more than 2.5 and I would give Gorges the nod without a doubt.

Unfortunately this year was a was for Gorges but I wouldn't award a contract based on what he might have done.

UFAs:

Andrei Markov(5.75) - depends on the term, same money for 1-2, 4.5-5 for a longer contract
Roman Hamrlik(5.5) - none, I don't think he has another good year left in him
James Wisniewski(3.25) - I'd be willing to go to 4
Brent Sopel(2.333) - probably none
Hal Gill(2.25) - I wouldn't mind seeing him back again to help the young guys, 2
Alex Auld(1.0) - 1, hasn't complained being backup, has done his job
Paul Mara(750k) - none
Jeff Halpern(600k) - none, I'd see what else is out there
Curtis Sanford(550k) - 550k if he's healthy
Mathieu Darche(500k) - 500k
Drew MacIntyre(500k) - depends on Hamiltons goaltending situation

RFAs:
Andrei Kostitsyn(3.25) - 1 year at 3.25? I'm not sure
Benoit Pouliot(1.35) - This guy is so frustrating. Stop falling! same amount as this year
Josh Gorges(1.1) - 2-3 depending on the term
Max Pacioretty(910k) - 1-2m I guess, whatever it takes
Yannick Weber(875k) - same amount of money, but I can see them trading him for a more defensive RH dman
Ryan White(850k) - same amount, love him
Mathieu Carle(660k) - 650-700k I guess, I'm not sure how his development is coming
Nigel Dawes(650k) - same if he stays
Dustin Boyd(650k) - none
Alexandre Picard(600k) - none
Ryan Russell(550k) - 600k or so, does his job in Hamilton
David Desharnais(550k) - 850k? Not sure what he'll qualify for, but he's putting up points
Kyle Klubertanz(550k) - 550-600k I guess
J.T. Wyman(550k) - same as Russel I guess, maybe a little more, another good guy for Hamilton
Frederic St. Denis(550k) - no opinion really
Tom Pyatt(500k) - not sure, loved his speed last season, doesn't seem as fast this season, doesn't do much else

UFAs:
Andrei Markov - 3 years 5 mil, I believe he'll still be a #1 dman, would not let him go.

James Wisniewski - 3 years 4.25 - 4.5 mil, like him but don't want to overpay for him. There are some good dman on the market this year so if he doesn't want to take a good salary for the team I may let him walk.

Alex Auld - 1 year 1 mil, he was fine as a back up this season

Paul Mara - not sure, would wait til after July 1, wouldn't be apposed to bringing him back as a #7 or #8, team needs the depth on D next season just in case.

Brent Sopel - same situation as Mara

Roman Hamrlik - he's been great for the Habs, but I want the team to get younger so I would let him walk or at least wait til after July 1 before negotiating. Depends on what he wants.

Hal Gill - same situation as Hamrlik

Jeff Halpern - let walk, I like him, had a good season, but I don't think Gomez gets moved and Eller and Desharnais needs to play C next season.

Curtis Sanford - 550k, same contract as this season, he's an AHL goalie

Mathieu Darche - 600k, if he's willing to come back as the same role, I was impressed by him this season and he doesn't mind sitting in the press box.

Drew MacIntyre - let wak

RFAs:
Andrei Kostitsyn - 2 years 3.5 mil

Benoit Pouliot - 1 year 1.5 mil, I'd like to see him continue to improve next season, if not I'd deal him then.

Josh Gorges - 3 year 2.333 mil, I like him on the bottom pairing and playing #1 PK, his injury may hurt his raise a little though.

Max Pacioretty - 1 year 1.25 mil, his injury hurt his raise, one year to show he can get back in form. I believe he will.

Yannick Weber - 900k 1 way contract, like him but wouldn't be apposed to dealing him if it improves the team.

Ryan White - 600k 1 way contract

Mathieu Carle - 660k, same contract as this season, I think he improved this year and may have a shot next year, especially as the first call up

Nigel Dawes - 650k, same contract

Dustin Boyd - will not qualify

Alexandre Picard - will not qualify

Ryan Russell - 550k, same contract, AHL player

David Desharnais - 750k, 1 way contract, play for a bigger contract next season and show he can handle it. I think he is a player to move forward with in the future.

Kyle Klubertanz - 550k, same contract, AHL player

J.T. Wyman - 550k, same contract, I like him a lot, wouldn't give up on him yet.

Frederic St. Denis - 550k, same contract, he's been a good AHL player

Tom Pyatt - 500k, same contract, extra forward, maybe deal him after the season. I don't think he makes much difference to the success of the team.

I just want to see the team get better next season, and younger. There are some good dman on the market I want, Ehrhoff and Bieksa. There are some good RFA's too, I'd see what is out there for a trade.

A little bit shocked how few of you want to bring back Mara when he's what most of you have been screaming for. A guy who sticks up for his team mates and plays physical, doesn't mind sitting in the press box. Mara is our ideal #7 for next year.

A little bit shocked how few of you want to bring back Mara when he's what most of you have been screaming for. A guy who sticks up for his team mates and plays physical, doesn't mind sitting in the press box. Mara is our ideal #7 for next year.
What's more shocking is people want to give Weber 1m and extend him. Weber can not be part of the D next year, he has way too many flaws and his position needs to be taken by a big strong D man.

Mara might be that guy, but I'm not opposed to looking elsewhere for a <1m guy also. Weber sucks, and needs to be traded or something, he's not an NHL dman. But next year, this team needs Mara more than Weber.

Gorges/Markov/Subban/Wiz/Spacek

then add in maybe Gill, and you still need more toughness from another dman. We definitely need a Mara type player.

At this point, our D is better off with Markov, Subban, and Wisniewski than with Weber. And when you keep the first 3, there is no room for a guy like Yannick. The rest of the D needs to be better in our end, bigger, tougher. Guys like Hamrlik, Gorges, and Gill, for example.

I'm all for trading Weber to improve the offense. Mara, to me, makes a fine #6/7, who shouldn't cost too much on the cap.

Markov - Gorges
Gill - Subban
Hamrlik - Wisniewski
Mara

Would be a phenomenal defense next year IMO, if it could fit under the cap somehow.

No. I'm with you. I would give him something like 3 years $6.5M.
