I don't have an issue with the comments, either. JvR has been very inconsistent this year, and he's need to give more consistent effort.

Is the Timonen quote.

I don't have a problem with that.

True, but I mean where is his comments on the older Veterans? I mean I said the same thing when Giroux was criticized at by Pronger. The veterans on this team could use a kick in the ass sometimes too.

...Yeah I'm looking at you Hartnell/Richards/Carter

There's a world of difference between keeping the young guys in the right mindset, and calling out your captain and assistant captains.

True, but when that young player happens to be your best player (IMO) for the last two games, I really don't find a need for criticism.

I mean, I understand it, but I mean IMO its a lack of professionalism on Kimmo's part. He's only going to have one first hatrick.

If this upsets JvR, then he will not succeed in the NHL. And its actually a compliment to the hat trick, saying he needs to play like that every game.

There is nothing wrong with what he said.

****ing Christ, Kimmo Timonen is the consummate professional. It's far more likely his comment was in consideration of the whole season and not just the last two games. JVR scored, neat. Three times in one game, hooray. But it's irrelevant as soon as the game's over, and isn't at all indicative of his play all year.

Yes and plus a guy like timonen or pronger would never call a veteran out in the media. We wouldnt have even known about pronger calling out giroux had it not been heard by the beat writers.

Kimmo took the entire season into consideration, not the last week. And it isn't like he called his play garbage or his hattrick meaningless.

You simply don't call out the veterans and leadership guys in public. All that can accomplish is a possible loss of respect for those guys among the young players/players in general. Reminding young guys that the season is long, and that they should strive to play in ____ manner for as much of the season as they can isn't that big of a deal IMO.

Wow, you defending JVR and attacking Timonen... surprising

Timonen was justified. JVR has not had a great season. He has some games where he looked really good, and others where he was AHL caliber. We know you want to trade Kimo and all and all about USA hockey, but this was 100% justified.

JVR seems like the type of guy that will totally understand kimmo's comments because even he acknowledged that his play was nowhere close to where it needed to be at the start of the year, and is still up and down at some points. I dont think he will have hurt feelings or anything like that. Im sure kimmo was right there in the dressing room to congradulate him. I think more than anything he was just reminding him that while it was a good accomplishment, if he wants to be the player than he should/can be he has got to bring that compete level everynight, not just here and there.

no I dont either. It is something that most young players go thru tho, some on our own team have gone thru those "up and downs" early in their career.

I certainly hope JvR has thicker skin than to be offended by these remarks. I'm fairly sure this is a non-issue.

Timonen is pissed, he has been making several comments about this with the younger guys. There is no question a disconnect between the younger guys in the locker room and the older, more established guys.

I actually like that Kimmo has been speaking out lately. There was nothing wrong with the comment.

Honestly, it's true but I don't know that it's the right time to express that. Still, when I think of the tone in which Kimmo probably said it, I'm fine with it. It looks worse in print, but he probably said that in his high-pitched "well you know" tone.
