3/1 Mashinter recalled; Nichol, Huskins to IR

http://sharks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?...id=DL|SJS|home

Official announcement of Mashinter's recall.

Plus Nichol and Huskins have been put on IR. (Not because their roster spot is needed, but perhaps LTIR for cap relief?)

Poor Husky. Just when he starts getting it going offensively, the hockey gods smack him down

Yeah, but if he knows what's good for him, he won't put up 2g3a in 5 games ever again

Both players are needed for the playoffs. Might as well rest them and make sure they are 110% healed and ready for the post season now, not later.

Good. If Kent Huskins had continued his torrid pace, DW might have extended him.

Looks like our cap problems are solved for the time being.

I'd actually be okay if the contract was 1.2 mil or less.

If Kent Huskins were making $1 million, his play alongside Demers would be praised - he was pretty solid last year and this year he's been fine too. He hasn't been bad, really - it's just that cap number that made him the whipping boy until Nic Wallin wandered over and saved him.

^ this.

Also, in DP's blog, he said the Mashinter got the call up Monday morning, and when he did, his first thought immediately went to "I've been traded..."

we'd also praise wallin if he were making the minimum. It's a salary cap world and your play is measured vs your salary. Huskins played very well the 2nd half of last year and this year before his injury. Unfortunately hasn't been the same since but hopefully this spell on the sidelines will right the ship.
