Leino doesn't shoot enough, though his shot isn't very impressive to begin with. He works better as a complementary type of guy on that line.

JVR just had a horrible start.

Been watching with frustraion the games since the All Star Break, Gir and Harts and Richards are sooo close yet havent scored in this strecth at all.. c'mon guys !! Get in there!

OTOH Leino and JVR have inched closer. Z is stuck at 15.

OK there has been a problem with scoring. Remarkably little progress on this file. The above scores were a month ago. Since then Giroux has squeaked into the club (from 19-21 in a month), Hartnell and Richards have each gone from 17-19. Leino has gone from 13 to 14 (whoooo!!) and JVR has vaulted from 12 to 15.

Z has not played and naturally is stuck at 15.

New guy Versteeg is at 15.

If Harts and Richards hurry up and get in, there'll be five 20-plus guys. And another four at 14-15: Versteeg, JVR, Z, Leino.

only five players 20 plus goals? not enough ..

Harts and Richards finally hit 20.

Carter, Briere, Giruoux have been in for awhile.

Next up:

JVR 16
Leino 17
Versteeg 18

Gotta say, on this file.. I was expecting more from this team. Earlier some were predicting all nine players in the Top 3 lines would pot over 20.

Real disappointment to be stuck at only five players with 10 games left to go.

I think all 3 above will reach.

Steeg only has four goals with the Flyers. The other 15 came with Toronto. He shouldn't count as a Flyer with 20 goals because he didn't score the majority of those goals with the Flyers.

Gotta agree with RJ8812 on that. Versteeg hasn't done anything special or out of the blue. When you give up a first and a third for someone, you expect them to have some sort of jump. He's been flat and he's been prone to lazy play. I don't buy the learning the system line for one minute either because he's going from a defensively regimented system in Toronto to a more offensively aggressive system in Philadelphia that really suits his skill set. There's something off with Versteeg.

he had a good night last night for sure...best game in the last 3-5 IMO

(i think Nodl is making it REALLY hard for the flyers to drop him...hes elevated his game with steeg/richie so its worth noting that versteeg has been helping make that line real complete (which against the capitals looked to be very strong...))

I like our big to 3 lines b/c i think each line will have a chance to change a series:
JVR-Giroux-Carter the transition line, these guys will eat up the neutral zone trap teams, and could really hurt a team that likes to keep play in the neutral zone (turnovers and fast breaks...think MTL)

Nodl-Richards-Versteeg-
these guys had a great game against the capitals and can REALLY grind. Lavvy gave them a lot of ice time and it paid off. Offensive powerhouse teams are gonna hate these guys! In a series i think they could REALLY dominate a team like Tampa or Washington.

Hartnell-Briere-Leino
these guys run Isht via time of possession! We all saw what they did in the playoffs this year, and i'd be lying if i said i didnt expect the same this year. Im not expecting much more from leino or hartnell, but i think Danny is gonna step up come playoff time. Hes on his game in the playoffs b/c, well lets face it, hes lazy. But thats OK, because he plays as hard as anyone in the playoffs which is why he seems to get "better".

They should be effective against most teams, but i think they will actually do best against a PHYSICAL TEAM (weird right?)
I think those guys do their best work when the other guys have exhausted themselves hitting and grinding. other than hartnell's blind passes, that line has maddddd patience and can force a goal on a tired line.

in summary:
Fast teams :eaten up by giroux amazing awareness, + 2 fast 6'3" two way players.
Offensive teams: extinguished by the ridiculous grinder line in V-R-N
Physical teams: worn down by the passing/patience of the "Payoff" line

and if a Defensive team wants a defensive struggle good luck with that. our defensive core is 2nd to none, and the less shots the other team takes at our soft goaltending the better!

K,

Leino and JVR both at 19.

Confusion: I know Versteeg only scored a few with Flyers, but still:

Is his yearly total 19 or 20? I thought 19, some say 20.

20 for Versteeg. Got it on the slap pass from Richards last game.

All right. Then six in the 20 goal club, with two on the doorstep at 19.

JVR and Leino.. c'mon guys, dont let me down after getting so close. 6 games to get one goal (each).

OK this is spooky, he called it just right. On Jan 1st!

There was a man named Nostradamus who could foretell the future.

SO I demand that this 'oracle of Philly' reveal to me:

Will the Flyers win the Cup this year? Who will be the MVP?

zherdev could get 5 in the rest of the season if we play him, and if he plays as well as he did the other night...

The FINAL list (and I could kill LEINO, 19 goals with four games remaining and he couldnt pot a single goal to give him 20:

Carter 36
Briere 34
Giroux 25
Hartnell 24
Richards 23
JVR 21
Versteeg 21 (seven with Philly)
Leino 19

Zherdev 16
Nodl 11

Seven in the club (though that includes Versteeg who had 7 with Philly), one on the doorstep.

Think about this...James Neal and Kovalev have 2 combined goals since joinning the Pens.

I would still rather have Neal, but I am a big fan of his. Not that I hate Versteeg, just have always been a fan of how Neal plays.
