Everytime I look these days Stastny is over 500 and Duchene is over 500. That didn't seem to be the case before.

A bright spot in this dismal season.

Stastny has been over 50% pretty much the entire season, has he not? I did not realize that was the case for Duchene though.

O'Reilly's percentage has gone up to the mid-40's from the 40 mark last season. Hey, it's improvement!

O'Reilly is up to 51.6%. Last year it was 47.8%.

Ah dang, that's what I initially thought, then changed it. Not kidding. Someone else on the team has the previous stat that I claimed.

It's pretty much standard for a players faceoff percentage to increase as they get older before it plateaus. It's nice to finally have a team that seems to be able to win faceoffs on a semi regular basis.

2009/10
League rank : 29th
Team F/O %: 47.7%
Stastny:50.0%
Duchene:44.0%
O'Reilly:47.8%

2010/11
League Rank:14th
Team F/O%:50.4%
Stastny:53.4%
Duchene:49.8%
O'Reilly:51.6%

Pretty nice improvement. Hopefully they can all get up to and stay around the 55% mark or so which is really good. Most of the best in the league are 55-60% very few get past 60.

Love to see this area of the game improving. Showing that we can be a GREAT, not only good faceoff team in the near future.

People underrate this part of the game. Look at Vancouver, say what you want about them, but they are a VERY good team on the draw and it helps a ton in regards to control the pace of the game and getting chances in the offensive zone off draws.

I've advanced this theory in other threads before but I'm of the opinion that winning faceoffs is all about "cheating" as players get older and become vets they get more respect from the linesman and can get away with more in the circle.

Faceoffs don't really worry me, passing does. We are brutal in that department.
