I missed this game due to travel, but from the sound of it the guys looked pretty good. Was this a statement game for them, or did the Oilers just suck ass?

I believe that's what you call a shutout. No shootout needed for that win...

It was like a pre-season game. Not a lot of intensity on the ice. The Kings played a smart game and Lewis had some great individual efforts. Brown was the lucky guy to get the great passes from Lewis.

Lewis has 1 goal and 3 assists on the last 4 goals.

Benier was money and gave up very few rebounds. The Kings cleared the front very well tonight.

It really depends on Dallas. But 98 points should get it done.

It was basically an exhibition game. We looked good. Bernier wasn't really tested until midway through the 3rd.

Thanks, Sydor. So it seems like Lewis is starting to step up then. That's great to hear.

I'm so glad that JB got another shutout, I'm just bummed that I missed it.

10-11 Kings the best defensive hockey team ever in LA? You could make a case for it IMO.

He looked really calm tonight and dialed in. The majority of what he saw for the first two periods were shots from the outside with no traffic but the Oilers started getting some good chances in the 3rd and he was still focused like he was to start. He had a great point blank glove save too.

And get this...of all people, Ryan Smyth saved the only goal the Oilers almost scored (Shot off the post went back out to the other side of the net for a soon-to-be-tap-in and Smyth got his stick on the Oilers' stick/puck).

Having two top quality goalies helps. Since the new year, Bernier has been as good as anyone in the NHL.

Badass! Maybe it's a good thing we didn't take Smyth out back just yet. He also had a solid game against the Avs.

Now we go from the worst team in the West to the best. I'm really looking forward to seeing how we fare against the Nucks. As long as we keep it a close game, I think we'll be in good shape for the playoffs.

The Captain continues to come up huge for the Kings.

Right now with the injuries Dustin Brown is the Kings best forward, it will be a great challenge for him. So far so good.

No kidding.

7-2-3, GAA of about 1.90.

Brown has 27 goals. He would be the best forward for a lot of teams in the league.

He has like 9/10 more goals than both Nashville and Phoenix's top goal scorers.

We just need to keep getting some wins. Next game against Canucks is a game where we can test how good this team is.

Just imagine how much better Dustin Brown would be had he performed more consistently? He would be a 30-35 goal, 60-65 point power winger, and would easily be considered among the top 10-15 wingers in the NHL if he produced at that pace and kept up his physical play. He seems to be performing better since Penner came along, maybe taking some pressure off of him has helped his game out.

Penner continues to struggle.

I remain skeptical of Moller. Would Holloway be any less effective?

Bernier is playing with some confidence and it shows. Remember all the idiots bashing him earlier in the season?

Martinez doesn't play the hard minutes, but he's been better than both JJ and DD for awhile now.

Lewis has racked up points against the two worst teams in the league, it will be interesting to see how he performs against Vancouver.

Penner - Handzus - Moller is a terrible line.

Can we please try:
Penner - Stoll - Moller
Smyth - Lewis - Brown
Ponikarovsky - Handzus - Simmonds
Clifford - Richardson - Westgarth

Or heck, try switching Moller and Simmonds.

Moller is getting exposed against Dmen with size. But I expected that, He just has to learn how to fight through it.

Any combination of 4 wins or 4 Dallas losses will do it (and any combination of 2 wins or 2 Calgary losses)
