If Habs win tomorrow in regulation they are virtually in. The best Carolina could do is go 5-0 and finish at 92 points if they lost to Habs tomorrow and Montreal would already be at 91.

I still believe 90 points is what a team needs to make playoffs this year. One more point to go but make it would be nice if Montreal can go 3-1-1 in last 5 at minimum. That would be seven more points to total 96 for the season.

Note to self: don't ask trivia questions when you don't know the stupid answer yourself.

Apparently both Gionta and Plekanec have an EN goal each (Kostitsyn still does have two, I remember he scored our very first one this season). I don't remember the Gionta one, just the Plekanec vs. Rangers one.

Everybody wins by default!

EDIT: as a matter of fact, Gionta's goal was March 1st vs. these same Thrashers! Short term memory, you will be the bane of me! *shakes fist*

Just watched the recap on RDS.ca

Heard Joel say that the refs said they screwed up but couldn't overcome the decision. Ptretty sweet to hear that.

Not the greatest of wins, but after the past week I'll take anything.

Side note, did anyone get a screenshot of PK shaking McCreary's hand after the game? Thought it might make a good Avatar (with the tagline "respectful")

Regardless of tonight, McCreary is one of the best refs in the league and it sucks to see him go.

Yeah a consistent veterean ref and one of the best, the NHL need more of guys like him plus he got a stache !

Anyway Good win it will be good for the moral and hopefully they can assure a playoff spot with a strong end of the season.

McCreary wasnt the closest official to the play. Normally, the back official is hesitant to make the call. The other official blew the high stick call.

Also, the linesmen have the authority to make the call too but they all missed it. Its really hard to believe that all those eyes missed the call, but its also unfair to single out McCreary for the blunder.

Subban needs to stop diving, he isn't a hard core diver, but it isn't helping his troll rep. I don't want him to get injured.

Kostitsyn was a monster right out of the gate tonight. He was clearly targeted and he responded everytime with some monsters hits. He's on a roll for the playoffs people, since 30 games he's the guy we all want him to be, shoving people and setting up plays. Sure he's inconsistent but he's still playing like a top 6 forward and he's our best winger 5vs5.

He will tear it up these playoffs, mark my words !!!!

Edit : Bill McCreary was once asked what was the worst thing a fan once threw at him during a game, and he answered : "an 8 ball from billards" , WOW , can you imagine getting hit by one of those thrown by a fan??

Yeah, that is not cool. Diving stinks. At the same time, though, I actually thought it was pretty well executed. It was obvious on the replay, but they usually are. Before I saw the replay, I was like "wahhhhh....they are calling him in on a dive"

A player tripped via stick between his legs WHILE HE IS TURNING/CUTTING is bound to lose his balance big time. There is a sideways torque involved here and it is very dangerous. As far as I am concerned, the player has every right to try and take the fall in such as way that HE controls his body and not get his ankle sprained or anything.

I'm sure most of you would never call Gionta a diver, and he did the exact same thing as Subban in the playoffs last year when tripped the same way.....and he also got called unjustly for diving.

I would love to see how one of the zebras would act if tripped that way.

I think diving calls should be reserved for cases where the player invented the infraction, not when he was the victim of it.

What would happen if the coach lost the decision? (minor for delay of game?).

The victory is more important VS a shutout, but still...a shutout is shutout. There was no need for Price to lose his shutout.

Gill's stick to the face/near eye was VERY VERY obvious...it's as if at least 2 referees just ignored it.

Anyways...happy we got the 2pts (the big W). Would have been funny if it were a 1-0 win for us through shootouts!! it would still be 4 games without a regulation goal!!!
