Good to see. I still think it's a stretch that he plays in the playoffs at all, even if they do make the second round. He's most likely still building strength back now, and anything close to game conditioning is a long ways away.
Would be nice to see if it happens, but I'm not holding my breath.
Roy looked quite a bit better than he did during his few twirls on the ice a couple of weeks ago following the Sabres' annual team picture.
The thought of him playing in the second round of the playoffs -- if the Sabres get that far -- certainly seems like a realistic goal now
BNHarrington Lindy said he was unaware Roy was on ice. Said no change on timetable.
Hypothetically speaking, if the Sabres do make the playoffs and make it to the 2nd round, I think it would be safe to say that Roy would be getting the Tim Connolly playoff treatment from a few years back when he came back late in the year.
Good to see him progressing well with his rehab. My only wish is for a healthy and ready to roll Roy next season. Not really thinking much about him for the playoffs
I really hope that Roy isn't rushing himself to get back sooner. I'd rather he takes his time, and can be 100% and be a PPG (or close to it) player next year than risk coming back early and having a setback.
BNHarrington Derek Roy: "Today I took a big step, started skating hard and got my heart rate up." Still aiming for round 2. More on #Sabres Edge shortly.
stranger things have happened, a lot of athletes heal better and faster than the typical human. As Aragorn said to the elf sniper before the battle of Helm's Deep. "You are most welcome here."
Just get strong for next year, Derek. I've never been a fan of guys coming back for the playoffs after long injuries like this. If he can, more power to him, but after being out of practice for so long, it would be hard to jump right back in the mix during a hard playoff series. If he's anything less than 100%, he shouldn't play.

Yet, if the team is still alive and he can come back, even if at 85% capacity, wouldn't you be more optimistic than with the current center corps of Connolly, Hecht / Boyes, Gaustad and McCormick?
Don't worry. "The distance" in SabreLand means that Roy comes back in the 2nd round, after we beat Boston in the first. With Roy back we win another series and make it to the ECF, but Roy isn't the only one getting their number one center back for the playoffs. Crosby comes back for the Pens, and scores the winner 5-hole on Miller in game 6 or 7. Pens win Cup.

I don't know if the hockey gods are falling for this one.
