We gor Trotter, Nash, Zanette and others

I don't think we lost out on much in Hanson, Bozak, Gustavsson, Irwin or Brunnstrom(32 GP 3-10-13 this year in the AHL). There are 30 NHL teams so we're not going to get every FA, espoecially considering those guys are often looking for big contracts and promises on ice time or playing in the NHL.

We never get the guys who are considered the best out there, but always the second tier guys.

Those guys usually want a team that sucks so they can play in the NHL right away. I'd rather be a playoff team that suck and get NCAA Free Agents.

You'd be willing to give a guy who never played professional hockey 3.75M? I'm not, and I'm pretty confident that any team that spends to the cap won't be in on him either.

From a team with Darche and Halpern on their top 2 lines.

So you'd rather sign college free agents and slot them into our top two lines? Great idea.

No, but the idea that he could not play here right away here is laughable...

I'm having trouble following your train of thought.

Your upset that we signed a Free-Agent College student to a try out in Hamilton and that he can't play for the Habs right away?

Yeah because Brunnstrom, Hanson and Bozak would be leading our team in scoring right?

First off Darche played for McGill in a canadian university league... not the NCAA.

Halpern had a good career in the NHL, having scored consistent 40 pt seasons in the early stages of his NHL career, I'd be happy with that wouldn't you?

What does it matter that Darche played CIS, there are quite a few alum in the NHL.

Halpern would be a 40 point guy if he had more than 12 minutes a game, he's played 4th line for about half the games.

Yeah we could have had Fabian Brunnstrom and Matt Gilroy instead of David Desharnais. Really missed the boat there.

Halpern has been awful the last 50 games, and you want him in the top 6 playing more than 12 min ? He's the first guy I would cut to try to field a topugher team.
