Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden: Game #77 @ Buffalo Sabres

Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden

The RulesWhat is the poll for?

You are voting for the player of the game - the one who put forth the most effort, who put the team on his shoulders, who contributed the most.

Do not vote for the player who had the best statistical game just because he had the best statistical game.

This does not mean you should not vote for the player of who had the best statistical game, but do not vote for him just because of that fact.

Who can I vote for?

You may vote for any player who dressed for the game and played at least one shift. If the player you want to vote for is not included in the poll, select "Other" and indicate in your post who you wish to vote for. In the case that I egregiously miss the player who everyone wants to vote for in the poll, I will count the votes in the thread.

What is this "The Good, The Bad, The Redden" nonsense?

It is my twist on the title of the famous spaghetti western movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Since multiple players may have outstanding games and you can only vote for one player in the poll, this affords you the opportunity to recognize multiple players, or a facet of the team, for their commendable play ("The Good"). This also affords you the opportunity to rip players, or a facet of the team, for their particularly substandard play ("The Bad"). Finally, just as "The Player of the Game" affords you the opportunity to recognize the best, this affords you the opportunity to commend the crème de la crème of the worst, who delivered an atrocious performance, or whose singular (or multiple) bad plays directly led to the the detriment of the team ("The Redden").

Alexander Frolov Memorial Trophy

The Alexander Frolov Memorial Trophy is awarded to the player who most exemplifies the qualities that Alex brought to the ice game in and game out. Most notable was his talent for wraparounds. Thusly, this award is given to the player who has the most wraparound attempts throughout the game.

Wow, come on, put that home Gabby...good lord. Put it in, or stay at home.
Don't give me anything about him getting slashed.

The Good:

The bad: We lost.

The Redden: It's no excuse, cause we had plenty of time to score again, but to be fair we had one stolen from us by the zebras.

It's one thing to lose, but another thing to know they're going to lose from period 1. Such garbage.

Nobody should be player of this game.

Nobody.

99 pct of them completely mailed this one in.

Completely.

I can understand Buffalo being desperate after a terrible loss, but for the love of God, that was the dumbest 60 mins of hockey I have seen all season.

No other word to describe the effort.

Dumb.

Dumb.

Dumb.

Almost 4 full days off and they basically evaporated.

Until the Rangers learn to score goals I refuse to acknowledge any efforts from any player other than Henrik. We block shots and play gritty? It's nice but it's not gonna win games if we don't give Henrik some friggin goal support. He STOLE us the last 5 points and is still playing lights out. Do him a favor and put a couple of pucks in. Our guys know we're in a playoff race, right?

The Good: Henrik. 2 goals allowed in his last 4 starts, including OT.
The Bad: Everyone else.
The Ugly: Our offense.

POTG: Lundqvist
The Good: Anisimov, Gaborik, Stepan, McDonagh/Sauer
The Bad: Boyle, Girardi
The Redden: Christensen, not adjusting to Buffalo's defensive system, low shot total

It wasn't as bad a game as 90% of you made it out to be.

The only reason why scoring chances were generated were off of lazy Buffalo turnovers.

This was a piss-poor effort outside of the Dubinsky line.

1-12 in takeaways and outshot by 2:1 until the last 7 mins?

Yeah, they got dominated.

The loser Buffalo MSG feed didnt show that chance in the end. Was it gaborik who was alone at the side of the net? And was it saved? blocked? wide?

The Good: Right back in the saddle tomorrow night, Montreal continues to slump
The Bad: They looked flat and stale tonight
The Ugly:Carolina won't go away

Other observations: Not enough Prust. I don't know about Gaborik, he played hard but....well, he better bring it tomorrow night since he likes the Islanders this year.

Buffalo has a really good farm system, one thing about that franchise; management stability despite crazy ownership. Every time they look down and out from ownership issues, to losing Hasek, Drury, Briere, etc. they pick themselves right up.

You guys want to get really worried?

If we don't lock up a playoff spot in the next few games it could come down to the last game...

against New Jersey.
