Stepan showed good heart - but you know what.

I am going to flat blame Gabby for this, he needs to step it up.

We absolutely mailed this one in. We were rested. Buffalo played last night. Buffalo had to scratch Miller last minute. The deck was stacked in our favor. So, as one would expect of the NYR, we came out flat and played sloppy. There's no question this was a poor EFFORT. It's not about bad bounces, bad luck or strong play from Buffalo. I'm not saying the Sabres played badly, at all, but this was a bad EFFORT from the Rangers.

It wasn't as bad a game as 90% of you made it out to be.
No, it wasn't but it's infuriating because it had the exact same feel of 2 years ago when you just knew the Rangers weren't going to score more than 1 goal (or, obviously 0).

Anyway, POTG has to be Lundqvist.

The Good: Stepan, McDonagh, Staal, Sauer, Dubinsky

The Bad:
Anisimov had a great 1st period, but it seemed like all he did was lose puck battles after that to squelch any pressure Dubinsky and Callahan could muster.
Girardi was okay defensively, but man does he make some terrible outlet passes.

The Redden:
Our lack of offense. (And Carolina suddenly being good again).

Also, I effing hate Buffalo because I just don't think they're a good team. We should have beaten them.

I have a feeling the Isles game will be a complete fiasco but we still win somehow.

Did Gerbe really make a play on that last shot by Gaborik or did he just miss?

Here's what I would do if I was Torts.

I'd call a team meeting tomorrow morning and ask these guys if they have any self respect....then walk out of the room.

After three days off, after the effort in Boston, after how they missed out last year, there is absolutely no excuse for what we saw tonight.

You can't take two periods off this time of year.

So pissed. I'm done.

When you don't generate any offense the first 55 minutes, chances are you aren't gonna win.

They didn't deserve it tonight, the better team won. They better ****ing win tomorrow because they're in deep **** if they don't. They needed at least a point tonight.

POTG - Lundqvist
The Good - Dubi & Cally
The Bad - pretty much everyone else

Like someone said they mailed this one in. EC is back to his old disappearing tricks and I'm getting sick of his act. Gotta come out tomorrow nite and destroy the pIsles.

POTG: Henrik Lundqvist

The Good: Nothing

The Bad: Everything

The Redden: The officials handed Buffalo the game. Callahan's "interference" is questionable at best, and the hooking and holding was just plain ridiculous.

The Poti: The so-called fans in here whining about the supposed "lack of effort". Hell, I'd like to see what you could do if you were getting hooked and held and the opponent was dropping five below the hash marks.

Yeah, they got dominated.
I still do not think it's the end of the world like some do here.

Ya win one, ya lose one. It's how it goes, you can't expect to win every game.

He did his part, but it's clear now that he needs a playmaker to set him up. It looks like the injury has taken a ton off his snap shot and goalies are stopping them consistently.

I cant fault Gabby for this one. This was a game where absolutely nothing worked for any player.

And poor Dubinsky...he was a beast on the puck tonight with Myers draped all over him shift after shift.

Our playoff chances did just take a pretty big kick in the groin tonight.

3 goals for in 4 games is unacceptable.

Pretty rough call to take away our only goal.

Time to suck it up and move on, we have a lot of games left to win here. 4-1 puts us in no matter what.

Well at least Gaborik will score 6 goals tomorrow night since they're facing the Isles.

Oh, they're still going to clinch, but it seems like when they were losing, the effort was there and when they are winning, it's all Henrik (for the most part)

Tonight there was very little effort. I credit Buffalo for playing a perfect defensive game but at the same time, most of the guys made a lot of stupid plays when the easy answer was right in front of them

Let's look at this:

We're in a tight playoff race, now sitting in 8th once again, with just a 3 point lead over Carolina. In our last four games, we have scored a total of three goals. That's god awful, knowing what's on the line for us, and after missing the playoffs by one point last year.

What's WORSE? In those 4 games, our goalie has allowed only TWO goals TOTAL. TWO!! In four games. And somehow, despite having a goalie who has given up .5 goals per game for the last 4 games, we come away 2-1-1? Really? Henrik should be furious.

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath. Yea we all would have liked to have see a better effort and obviously a better result, but this is a team that has points in 8 of 10. Sure we had a bad game but we were off for essentially 4 days, it happens to the best of them.
We win tomorrow and we're in a tie for 6th in the conference. We lose and we still have a 3 point lead on 9th with 5 games left in the season.
I personally have faith in this team, a W tomorrow will reaffirm the faith for more people

What playmaker did he have in Minnesota when he was lighting the lamp like a Christmas tree every year?

It's his own fault.

Yeah, they made some pretty mentally challenged plays, to put it politely.

Boyle was horrific tonight. I like the guy, but he was making bad pass after bad pass, one of them helping spring Connolly's powerplay goal.
