I was working wicked late, so I had to miss the whole game, and by the sounds of it I would have been frustrated....couple questions I have to ask:
Why?
Where was Miller? And the couple saves I saw from Enroth looked like he played out of his mind.
It is too bad, this was our biggest game of the season and had a rough two periods...too bad. Well time to get back up on our horse tomorrow night and play a full 60 minutes, we got 5 games left, let's put together 300 minutes of good true blue rangers hockey and carry a winning streak into the playoffs!!!!! do it up rangers!!!!
Torts will light a fire under this team tonight tomorrow morning, tomorrow afternoon, right before the game during the game, man this team will hear it and as they have all season they WILL respond because Torts gets it out of his players. This will be one of those wake up alarm games. You hate to see it this late in the season, but it is great to see that emotion from a coach becuase that shows he really cares

Reason: nevermind just read ranger rants and saw that the Miller is injured...wow, we REALLY should have taken advantage of that...
Im not defending Wolski in anyway because of his play lately but how is he suppose to do something when he gets 5 minutes of ice time per game? Seriously... Give him 15-20mins like everyone else and he'll get you an assist or goal. Torts just doesn't like him plain and simple.
POTG is Lundqvist as always.
The Bad: BAD START!
agree
he hasent played great but he hasent played bad either with the 5 minutes a game he gets. he has played well defensively regularly for some games now which is what torts wants but just is not giving him a chance I honestly dont get it
Yes we can bench EC but would that really be smart, hes got one of the shots on the team. Seriously though its time to get WOLSKI out of the lineup, the guy is working hard but it leads to nothing, hes too weak in the corner which is key this time of the year. Why would be sitting MZA who creates chances when hes on the ice and is the smartest passer we have to create goals. Get him in for W2. Prospals not looking to good out there also, i mean he and Gabs have some chemistry sure but idk i guess there no one else to put in his place at this point, not like Dru could play with Gaborik. Only if we put Steps with Gaborik and Christ, Pack line, Avery-Dru-Zucc(idk about this one and than the Boyle line. I mean we have to shake things up next game imo.
totally disgree torts wants wolski to learn defensive and has play well on defense for some games now. give wolski the same amount of minutes like 15 to 20 not his usual 5 and he will produce. and saying we have no one to play with gaborik instead of prospal try wolski there he has the second best skill on the team give the guy a chance before you write him off. boyle anisimov gaborik line all over 15 nim and have 3 goals combined in 3 games if your gonna write people off write off the ones that get te chance not the guy tjhats on the ice for 5 min comon
And the trolling is getting so out of hand that I'm debating whether or not I want to come back here tomorrow for the Isles game. I've grown accustomed to the types who only appear when the Rangers lose and appear to take glee in every loss. But a Norwegian fan upset about his precious MZA being scratched so he hopes the Rangers lose? I understand many Norwegian fans are rooting for the Rangers solely because of Zuccarello, but that's insulting to all Rangers fans who have grown up rooting for this team. We cheer for the sweater, and no individual is above the team.
I usually hope for a Rangers loss when he's out of the line-up. Rangers isn't my team though and I have the sense to stay out of the GDT and not gloat about it.
I can see how some of my countrymen are disappointed though. It's not as if the Rangers have an abundance of play-makers on their team. I can also totally see how having 15 guys with 5-30 posts focus only on one of the team's players sucks though. In a sense I'm really glad I'm not Loffen, he must go a lot when they pop up.
I expect the same to happen on the Leafs board if they ever have Sondre Olden on their team/AHL team.

Reason: Had left out two crucial words. Ooops.
Book a tee time T Eisenhower Park , Red Course today on the way out to the Island , because anything short of 2 Pts in regs and that's where the NYR deserve to be . Unacceptable play against Ottawa and buff . Why is it that every team can barrell over Hank repeatedly yet we can't go hard to the net ? Prediction 5-1 isles , Lundqvist knocked out in the first
Is Gaborik hurt? He was one on one with a Sabre D on numerous occasions and couldn't get anything going. Usually Gaborik's speed would have the D on his heels. He doesn't seem to have that extra burst. Gaborik usually plays well against the Islanders. The Rangers need a vintage multi-goal Gaborik game tonight.
Rangers still control their destiny. Need a solid performance tonight and another one on Sunday.
The Sabres took a page out of our book and played exactly how we did against the Bruins. It happens sometimes.
I don't think there was a lack of effort, just a lot of stupid plays. Boyle and EC were like Tweedledee and Tweedledum out there. Lots of players getting too cute trying to pass the puck when there was no play to be made. Every few weeks the Rangers have a game like this where their mental mistakes will cost them. They just aren't a very smart team.

Quoted for absolute truth!
It pisses me off to no end that they feel the need to come here and start threads/predict multiple point games/complain when he doesn't play even though he hasn't looked good in ages.
I'm a Norwegian and been following the team for about 10 years and I obviously think it's fun to have a Norwegian on the team but he's not even one of my top 5 favourite players on the Rangers.
It's just BS and does nothing but cause confusion and anger for players and coaches. Now watch teams go nuts if someones toe looks like it may have nipped some blue paint.
I would have agreed with the call only if Cally skated through the crease and intentially made contact with their goal tender but he did what you're supposed to do. That's get your self in a set position in front of the net and take the quickest route possible. Buffalo's own defense man wedged Cally in between himself and the goal tender. So why the Rangers had to pay a price I don't know. Not to mention the save was made so it's not like Cally did anything outrageously out of the ordinary. I haven't seen that call made in several years.
If Callahan was looking to initiate (and in fact did) contact with their goal tender I would fully agree with the call. I also can't believe these guys wait until there's a handful of games left in the season to make borderline "iffy" calls like this when every game means so much to both teams. It's nuts...Fans watch the game to enjoy both teams go at it. For some reason the referees think they're part of the spotlight as well. It ruins a great game.
Eh I've seen this go in our favor a time or too as well. D men are prob told to be smart and close the gap bewtween goalie and defender inconspicuously enough to draw a non call in case of a goal. The rebound was so juicy Cally didn't even need to skate through like that but I really can't fault the non call on the goal there. With a guy standing right behind Hank like that i'd be screaming interference at the TV. Always looks different when it's your team I guess.

Grammar fail. Also the way the rangers games have been lately has cured my insomnia haha and I agree with the troll comments it's gotten bad. But things around here are about as consistent as NHL refs are. I'm not sure why people are being brought to task for complaining about posters and trolls but the actual trolls are being ignored.
well i was at the game last night. i will give you my throughs through the haze of no sleep and too many brewskis....
first, buffalo is fast. we arent slow but those guys can skate. and tomas vanek is an extremely talented dude. high end talent.
good to see- or bad to see- my old friend timmy connolly from syr ny via the syracuse stars with a nasty snipe. hank went down too soon again though.
ryan cally is da man. dude is a player. gaborik... not so much.
prospal cant skate. anymore. dude is slow. derek stepan makes plays and is very shifty. gonna be a stud very soon.
i sat right near the ice and that was a vicious game. lots of hits and lots of contact. i would say buf out hit us but we attempted to atleast finish some checks. our d was getting slammed all night.
hank is amazing. enroth played well too. he had to make few saves, especcially in period 1.
we came out flat again. i blame coaching for that. im sorry, but i do. the building had playoff type energy though. very intense game.
w2 isnt playing enough minutes. hes being ''lisin'd'' by coach clown. hes not a 2 way player and he doestn belong on the 4th line and he cant produce getting 5 minutes. who can for crying out loud. hes being wasted. not everyone is ryan callahan for christ sake torts.
erik christensen looked like he was on drugs last night. dude is lost out there. while ryan mcdonough gets it big time. dude is fast and can carry the mail too. hard to believe hes a rook.
mccabe is a smart player. you can see how he is very efficient out there. and mike sauer is nasty. he throws the body alot.
one thing i can say for certain, when you see our defense close up, they are big. all of them. i was completely impressed last night watching this unit if 6 operate. i think they played great and gave up very little- obviously as our gaa went down again last night.
anyone who says we need to focus on the defense and make changes isnt watching. as far as im concerned, this unit- even inluding eminger- is NOT the reason we are struggling for a playoff spot. these guys are all good, young and talented. the future is indeed bright on the blue line.
last nights game was about as close checking as ive seen this season. there just wasnt any room. at all. looked like we were trapping, especially in the 1st when were badly outplayed. safe is death ......
tough loss but that was tough atmosphere to play inn last night. buf was obviously ready to play.
lastly, i was right near hanks net when he hurts his leg. he screamed out PHUK really loud. it was funny and the sabres fans around me started laughing until they saw he was really in pain.
had my messier jersey on. no fights. no drama. alot of remarks but we all got along and some old sabres dude even bought me a cocktail
oh, and there are some very attractive um....... sabres fans in buffalino...

It's not an overreaction when you state the obvious. Saying the Rangers mailed it in isnt an overreation. They played a terrible game.
A win tonight fixes everything.
dont agree with this. last night was a war. it was basically a home playoff game for the sabres. they played their hearts out and bottled us up the whole game. we allowed 1 pp goal. there was no time and space for us to operate. nothing.
no way we mailed anything in. we were out played in the sabres house. it happens.
again, last night was basically a playoff type atmosphere.
i will say this however, we are still lacking top 6 offensive talent and games like that show me that we have no one who can take a game over. we have some very nice young complimentary players but we lack a seasoned sniper.
im slowly starting to sour on gaborik. hes just too ineffective.
Wolski is pretty darn close to being the latest scratch.
I'm really concerned about the downward trend I'm seeing from Wolski. Effort, production, ice time, just dropping off game by game.
I don't want to see Wojtek get the Kotalik treatment. There are going to be guys that never fully sign on to Tortorella's strategy, but can still be a contributor to the team. Its obvious that Torts wants Wojtek to improve his play without the puck, but this team doesn't have the luxury of turning it's best offensive players into Selke candidates right now.

I don't know -- Torts himself said the first 40 mins were "unacceptable".
All these games are basically playoff games, and if that's the case, then I agree with Torts that the team was flat footed and caught out of position way too many times.
During the losing streak, they were consistently outworking, outhitting and outshooting opponents but couldnt catch any breaks.
Last night they did none of the above. It was a 1-0 game because of Henrik. Buffalo had way better scoring chances than us.
Overall i think it was a crappy effort regardless of what the Sabres did or where they played.

Thanks for the live observations, but some players just can't elevate their game, and bottom line, we sorely lack top end talent.
Gaborik is a boutique shop sniper. We can't build a team around this guy.
we need at least 2 more true top flight scorers to even consider
being a real threat.
Too many supporting characters and not enough lead roles on this team. the painful reality at this time of year.

yes i agree with this. i see this as the same thing that happened with lisin.
torts is minimizing whatever positive impact w2 can have by forcing him to focus on his play away from the puck. you cannot deny w2's offensive skill but you can certainly eliminate it by forcing him to be something hes not.
the net effect of this is to neuter his creativity and skill and make him into a robot who is no longer thinking and reacting but simply trying not to ef up and get benched
the same cylce we saw with lisin.
offensive player forced to play 2 way hockey. offensive player focuses on part of game that isnt natural to please coach and stay on the ice. the natural part of game is rendered useless while player struggles to contribute. confidence is lost. production is eliminated. ice time reduced. rinse and repeat.

And Torts has struggled to modify a game plan that does not have the offensive horses he had in TB.
We have a very limited repertoire. I've said this before: One-trick-pony.
We need a lot of shots/chances to get a few goals. When we get 1-2 goal early we force the opposition to change their game, and as they press trying to score, we get more room and can likely turn it into a blowout. That's why we basically either win or lose a low scoring game, or we win 7-0.
Gaborik is NOT Jagr.
