Alfredsson - Point on the PP

I am curious as to how much Daniel Alfredsson plays the point on the PP? I am not just asking about his year...I would like to get more of an overall impression of how much he has done it throughout his career.

Thanks in advance,
Johnny

All of 02-03, 03-04 and 05-06... rarely otherwise.

He played the point on the power play a lot back in the Jacques Martin days. Consistently our PP had Hossa-Bonk-Havlat up front with Redden & Alfie on the point. Since the lockout he has mostly played up front and I don't think he played the point at all this season with Gonchar & Karlsson manning those spots.

Just wondering, why do you ask? Its doubtful Alfie moves anywhere next year (unless he asks to be moved, that is). I'm not upset that you ask, just curious as to why. Also, are you a Hawks fan (based on your location)?

I like how he said that Emery didnt even try to poke check...when he clearly did.

Just pointing that out.

As it turned out, that day was one of the lowest points in my life.

How I dread that day.

Him and Redden were godly together back in the day. He must have score 10+ from the point back in 05-06.

His 48 PP points along would have made him 17th in scoring among D-men.

Also, those 3 years were the best our PP has ever been. Not sure that it ever cracked the Top-10 otherwise.

Emery was awful on that sequence (well in most of that series, game 1 was probably the worst goalie performance I have ever seen in the NHL). His position was just wrong. He only had to "block" the access by positionning himself a bit to the right using his stick so all Pominville could have done is lift the puck and try to bat it in the air while diving over Emery

Alfredsson did his job, he "pushed" the forward to the outside. It was stupid to take for granted that a forward could have done a better defensive play.

So yes, Emery did try a poke check, but it was an Elliottesque attempt, after he let Pominville coming right in front of the net where the chances to score are so much higher.

Sorry I totally forgot to respond to this. I am asking because I have Alfredsson on my team in the All-Time draft here on HF and I was considering putting him on the point on the second PP unit.

Yes I've been a Hawks fan since childhood. Glad to have Sharpie back tonight. Hopefully he gives us a push to make the playoffs.

No I know, but he said he didn't poke check when that about all he did. Just thought it was funny.
