Also, the only exception I really take to this tie-breaker is that they don't take into account shootout losses. We essentially get points taken away from us in the tiebreaker since we have a goos shootout record, but other teams don't get the points taken away for their shootout losses. They should just make the stat be points minus shootout.
Good shootout teams effectively get penalized for being good at a shootout. If they have a tiebreaker for this, why not just remove the shootout entirely? If it's a part of the game, it should be treated as such, not some red-headed step-child part.

When was this rule changed? I think I started seeing the ROW stat on NHL.com not so long ago.
It was added for this year.
Carolina's 3 back so assuming they get an OT loss and a regulation win, they're tied with us in points and ROW. We're still ****ed though because they have the season series on us.
In short, if they're gonna win pray it's in a shootout.

Shootout loss: 1 point
Shootout win: 2 points
How does this system penalize winning in the SO over losing in the SO? It doesn't. If you end up tied with a team that has more SO losses and more ROWs, then so be it. But you always want to get 2 points rather than 1.
Really good teams get rewarded for not needing the shootout to win. Good shootout teams get rewarded by getting 2 points instead of 1.

I look at it more as teams that can't finish their opponent in the time alotted get punished. Makes sense to me. Other teams finished their opponent off within 65 minutes which is better than taking 65 plus a SO. It's working against us but I'm fine with it. If games ended in ties I don't think we'd be in the PO right now i could be wrong about that though
Also doesn't head to head come before wins total? beat your teams and again you don't have to suffer through losing tiebreakers
Tiebreakers are as follows
1. Least amount of games played (Obviously doesn't apply when it's all said and done.)
2. Regulation + Overtime wins.
3. Head to Head.
4. Goal differential on the season.
I hate this new tiebreaker rule. If the NHL doesn't want to consider a SO win a real win, then just get rid of it. Whoever makes up these kinds of things makes no sense.
