We can't let them back in this one.

EDIT: We've got this.

I'm still giving that award to the Ducks game a week or so ago.

2 points is 2 points but that was one of the worst 3rd periods I've seen. 2 goals, 1 post and 1 off the side of the net of a wide open goal. Just lazy hockey and it was disgusting to watch.

Yeeouch. Checking Smithson's faceoff stats (2 and 3) before the final one, and see that Legwand was 5 and 15. We had four guys under .500 with just one over, Geoffrion at 4 and 3. Must have been the thin air.

Once again to close for comfort, and it shouldn't have been.

WOW, great win for you guys! Your coach is a nut though! Avs pull their goalie, and he puts Legwand out who was 21 percent on draws all night! Got to question that!!!!
I guess for the first time in Trotz coaching, he was looking for an EN.

I don't know which one is worse, but we've picked up a nasty habit of letting the other team back in the game over the past few weeks. The Preds sure do know how to make it exciting.

Good win though, I'll take it and be happy!

I really hate seeing Ward (-1) with over 18 minutes of even strength time, over 20 total, and Wilson with just over 8 minutes, and Geoffrion and Halischuk about the same, all of whom appeared to be hustling and have legs. I guess scoring a goal doesn't even improve ice time in Trotzy world.

That just goes to show how much we depend on Leggy, Barry trusts him for his defensive play. Speaking of Leggy, anybody else think he's a bust?

Come on, your rant doesn't make even one lick of sense. Is it a level/spoof?

Magic number right now is 99. Stars lose tonight and its down to 97. Stars down 2-0 to the sharks in the 2nd .

What I was trying to say was that you would think you would put your strongest faceoff guy out in that case. Defensive zone draw, Avs pull their goalie....... just what most coaches would do. Instead, he had Legwand out who was horrific all night on draws ( and he did lose it ). The only sense I could make was maybe he wanted 11 to get another empty net goal.
I meant Trotz was looking for offense more than defense for the first time.

Don't want to jinx it but they are up 2-0 now. If Dallas loses tonight like trade legwand says the magic # would actually be 98 but Dallas could only get to 97. So we would need 2-2 or 1-1-2 to be sure and that's assuming Dallas wins out if they lose tonight. Fair to say if they lose in regulation tonight I'm feeling pretty damn good about our chances. That being said even if Dallas loses tonight if they are able to beat LA and ANA in their next two games they have a cupcake schedule after that.

I knew what you were trying to say, but it made no sense. Legwand is historically just below 50-50 on draws, yet he always plays late game situations, for his defense. Trotz isn't going to put him out or not based on one night of faceoff results.

Besides, Smithson was out to take the last draw, but he was tossed from the circle.

I think someone said that Geoffrion had the best faceoff % of the night, with Smithson and Leggy not doing that great. We're up 3-2 with 3 seconds left, he puts in his most reliable center instead of a guy who's only played in 16 games. It was the right call.

We got our two points. Everything else about this game is irrelevant.

If the Sharks beat the Stars tonight (which they're halfway to doing), we're in, for all intents and purposes. No way will Dallas be able to make up seven points in six games, even with their hilariously weak schedule (which features this same Colorado team twice). Assuming a San Jose victory, while not a safe bet by any means as of yet, we're really just jockeying for position with Anaheim, LA, and potentially Phoenix.

With 3 seconds left YOU NEED TO WIN THE DRAW. Not worry about defensive play. Bottom line is that you need to give your team the best chance by winning the draw, and in tonights case, I do not think that was a wise choice. Don't get angry, was just pointing out that I questioned that call.

Smithson was out for the draw. Who should have been the second choice?
