Maybe they just need to get it on, release the sexual tension.

Kings D was very sloppy on their D to D passing
Vancouver had a pretty good forecheck
Kings breakout was pretty bad
If the Kings are going to try and pump the O by sending Doughty, Johnson, or Martinez in, they need to better protect the blue line.
Johnathan Quick could not handle a wrist shot from the slot and was not strong controlling rebounds

Is Dustin Penner still on the team? Is he just invisible? Wow I am disappointed in him.

It was ONE game. I mean yeah he did a nice job today but your basing it off of one game. Let's see him bring what he had today to the next game and then we can start talking.

Thought the Kings played pretty well considering the two demoralizing losses of key players.

Funny how some teams never seem to have injury issues while others are snakebitten every year.

Reffing was weak on both sides.

My thoughts on some of the key Kings:

Doughty has to step it up, if LA is to make any impact in the playoffs. Wasn't impressed at all. Clearly a ton of talent but maturity is not there yet. Could change in a hurry though. Was definitely noticeable all night.

Johnson was invisible (offensively) most of the night. Showed physicality though.

Scuderi is an excellent defender.

Quick has matured. Really a top notch goalie now.

Handzus IMO is past his prime and now clearly on the downswing of his career.

Richardson always impresses me, looks dangerous, I always wonder why he doesn't have more points.

Penner - invisible.

Ryan Smyth - Smitty is one of my all-time faves. Always hustles but can't think of an impact play all night.

Mitchell -just his solid self. Really good with his stick.

... Nah, the Kings are needing to find other ways to generate offense, and are going to be putting themselves at risk for counter-attacks more than they did before. That's what Doughty was doing, after all; he's trying to create, pick up the slack for Kopitar. He's gonna get burned at times doing that. The penalty to Clifford - that's just frustration. I don't blame Kyle; he's just a kid. I was thrilled to see him get a goal today.

The Kings worked hard, but it just didn't happen for them. Just have to look to the next one.

You can't blame that one on the refs. They made some good calls and also some bad calls. It happens in almost every game.

The way I see it is a penalty called in the first game of the season should be called in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals in double OT. Since the league doesn't work that way it is up to the team. They need to put themselves in a position where they can't be screwed by the refs and LA didn't do that because they didn't show up in the third period.

I thought Westgarth played well and was effective in his role. He forechecked well and worked hard. There was no scrum for him to participate in but he played ok.

Does anyone disagree with me? Dustin Brown did not dive at all in that game (I don't think he is anywhere near what people claim he is).

Anybody else think its weird seeing Heidi on On the Fly? Though she did talk a lot about the Kings, almost seemed like she was talking about them too much...lol

Well I certainly agree with you but you'll catch a lot of flak for your correct observation. It seems that some fans have the purple glasses on.

The Penner MIA watch is now at 7 games. Dwight King could do that and we'd still have our 1st.

There is a very real probability that this team will not win another game this year.
Dallas? maybe
SJ? very doubtful
Phx? doubtful
Ana not if LA can only muster 1-2 goals per game. Anaheim's offense is on a tear and the Kings don't have the weapons to take advantage of their defense.

I am assuming that Penner is not fitting in or they are not putting him in a position to do something.

He has talent but I don't even notice him out there, he doesn't hit, shoot, whatever...

I think we didnt bring the physical play to them either. Westgarth actually played a good game. Harold wouldnt have done anything better in my opinion.

My big beef, is stoll and smyth not hitting anyone today. Simmonds, Clifford, Pony seemed like the only people taking the body all night. THe kings play thier best when everyone brings it.

I would have to imagine that we will get some shuffled lines again since our No 1 line is just out of whack..i wouldnt be surprised to see lewis go to the 3rd line, stoll to the first line, and zues back with brown on the 2nd, and richie staying on the 4th.

As for any kids in juniors, I just dont see any of them being able to help at this point of the year...its hard enough for kids to adjust to the NHL, but in the tight checking games this time of year, they would be molleresque.

Kings didn't bring their A game
Kings are 2-2 vs the best team in the league this year.
Here is to meeting them in the third round.

odd way to look at it. The Kings didnt concede a goal against EDM and gifted 3 goals to the Canucks tonight.

The Kings can easily win out the year and only concede 5 goals in the process

This seems to be the lazy Dustin Penner and not the one that actually creates offense. Hopefully he picks it up and he wasn't a waste of a draft pick and some young talent.

(Mod hat on)

Let me make a few things crystal clear...

1. Trolling is not allowed.
2 Insulting/demeaning another team's fans is not allowed.
3. Wishing or celebrating an injury or illness is not allowed.

This is the last warning. Infractions are next. Stick to talking about the game and the Kings please.

Thanks.

(Mod hat off)

Canucks as usually needed help from refs. I don't care how good they are. As long as they are diving and playing dirty they do not deserve any credit. That is why I hate them .....and their fans.?....are you kidding me.

How the ref can miss the stick throw and call a major on Red Dog and then nothing on the Zues play is beyond me. Yes they are the biggest joke in the league.

I don't think Schenn would get rubbed off the puck like a 10 year old.

Kings lost 3-1 to the top team in the NHL on the road. 2 goals against were the result of bad choices. The third was a gift by the refs.

Zero shots in the third was a huge problem, but the Kings were down after giving up a goal with one second left.

Handzus is done as a top six forward. He is barely a third line center right now. He's a black hole of offense right now.

How about:

Smyth-Stoll-Brown
Penner-Lewis-Moller
Poni-Handzus-Simmonds
Clifford-Richardson-Westgarth

why not? This team has got points in something like 25 of its last 30 games, and can easily shut down all of the teams you mentioned. They sit at 5th in the conference (4th on point%) for a reason.
