If I could change time/history then why not draft Suter and Weber and trade the rest of our picks to Washington for their 2004 1st rounder

Man, what a terrible draft class. Only good player taken after us (#6) in that round was Havlat at #26.

At least we managed to steal Adam Hall in the 2nd round

Yes, we could populate it with real hockey players. That would be cool. For all our moaning over Finley (a true suck choice to be certain), the next ten were:

7 Kris Beech
8 Taylor Pyatt
9 Jamie Lundmark
10 Branislav Mezei
11 Oleg Saprykin
12 Denis Shvidki
13 Jani Rita
14 Jeff Jillson
15 Scott Kelman
16 David Tanabe

We got Beech and Lundmark later anyway. You would have to go waaaay off the board to have done anything of note in 99. Absent moving up of course.

well, some fellow named Erat was taken in the 7th round that year...

(and I am pleasantly surprised that Adam is still playing in the NHL.. though he is the textbook definition of "journeyman")

Sadly ... most of those would have been an improvement over Finley at the NHL level ... all things remaining constant.

Would Perry/Getzlaf be the same two players we've grown accustomed to seeing if they were brought up with Trotz coaching them?
