I was wondering when Mike Green would go. Thought he went too early last time, but this is probably good value for him.

He and lidstrom were the two guys I thought were definitely better PP QBs "today" than Markov, though Markov should be ahead of Green in an "all time" sense.

If defence wins championships, you should steer clear of Mike Green...

All jokes aside, he's great value as a backup.

Green is definitely a good spare if you have a team full of defensemen who are good defensively and want a spare who can add offense for certain matchups (without caring about how terrible he is on his own zone)

I considered Green when I picked Markov.

What turned me off was how horri-awful he looked in last year's playoffs. As bad as some of his teammates looked, he was the worst - easily.

Definitely. He has many years to turn it around, but I wouldn't want him in the top 6 of my team for this draft.

Very useful spare if you want an occasional offensive boost on the blueline though

imo, mike green is good as a spare PP specialist and bottom pair offensive d-man.

imo, green is about average defensively, or not much below average. his main problem here, imo, is that he has sucked in the playoffs.

thanks to 70s for making my pick.

unfortunately, i cannot watch that video since this computer is primitive. i will have to wait until my usual computer is working.

duchesne was a low scoring checker who played with other low scoring checkers, but his +/- was consistently very good on 5 different teams, usually near the best numbers on his teams, meaning he was very effective and did not get scored on much.

even on the horrible late '80s nordiques, he was +8 during 2 seasons in which quebec was -108!

duchesne was only a minus player in his rookie season (still a teenager who did not really speak english) and his last season (on terrible '95 SJ).

duchesne also played in washington with doug jarvis and shadowed brett hull in '91 playoffs when minnesota reached the finals.

Yeah, I have no problem with Mike Green in the late 800s.

What a turn around for Marleau. Since Mar. 3rd, he has 13 goals in 14 games!!!

If you told me on Feb. 1st that he'd have a very good shot for 40 G and 70 P, I've have laughed in your face. But since then, he's easily been the hottest player in the league. Wow!!!

Green is the anti-Coffey. Both are average at best defensively in the regular season. But where Coffey raised his defensive game in the playoffs, What defensive game Green has had falls apart... So far at least.

Am I free to pick? Reds' clock expires in about 3 minutes by my calculations.

OK guys, I have to do something here. Nighthawks has 7 missed picks, chaos has 5, and advantage has 4. They have all been messaged multiple times.

I don't think matsblue is a problem at this point, and the other teams who account for the other six missed picks have responsible GMs looking after them.

But in one way or another, I need to get these missed picks made up, and not just at the end of the draft. What do you think? I don't know of any veteran GMs who have offered to step in. I don't know that there is really time to put together a "veteran panel" to make decent picks for these teams, either. I would like to just make it fairly quick, like a band-aid. I could just go over their rosters, determine what they need, and pick from my shortlist.

I don't want to just do it all at once, or immediately. I'd like to spread it out over maybe the next 24 hours, so other GMs will be still making picks in between the makeup picks.

Does anyone see a problem with that?

I say too bad for them , let them pay for their absence. If they don't come back they already wasted a lot of players on their dead roster. Why should a responsible GM pay ( suppose an active GM want the guys you pick for the ''dead team'' ) for someone that wasn't?

They already have. A lot of us got players that we otherwise likely would not have, because of all these skipped picks.

I'm all for continuing rewarding responsible GMs then.

Sure , they might have a good reason for not being able to make these picks , like I might have a good reason for missing 7 days of work , but I would still get fired.
