i think we definitely have to pull for BUF over CAR. We would then be 3pts ahead of 9th with 3 to play. That means we win just one of our last 3, CAR would have to win out.

Buffalo in regulation. That puts Carolina 3 points behind us with 6 possible points remaining for each team. If we go 2-1 we're in regardless.

Yes, it is 6 now. If Carolina loses in regulation it's 4.
As per above...if they lose Carolina is then 3 points behind us with 6 possible points remaining for each team. If we go 2-1 we're in regardless of how they finish.
