If we win a round, any chance Kopitar is able to return?

Ditto for Loktionov (I assume big no on him). Williams I assume will be back by then.

And when is Parse back? Wasn't it supposed to be mid-February originally? It's April now, what's the hold up?

No chance on the first 2, unlikely on Parse.

What's the hold up on Parse? Any updates anywhere?

Scott Parse was back on the ice toward the end of today’s practice, and for some extra post-practice skating. Parse said he has been skating for approximately a half-hour a day, but when I asked him how he was feeling, he said, “OK.” That’s it, just “OK.” Parse indicated that there was nothing to get excited about until he started practicing, and didn’t have an idea as to when that might be. Presumably, not soon. When I asked Terry Murray today about Parse’s status, he said, “I’m not even penciling that in right now, because it’s been so long.”

I've accepted that we won't see him until next season. I pretty much assumed it when February came and went without an update of any significance.

If Lubo's hurt than I like our chances against the Ducks, I would expect us to beat Nashville or Phoenix (although I always expect us to beat Phoenix....but we don't).

Seriously though playoff success for any team depends on the goalies in my opinion. We've all seen how a hot goalie can carry a team to the finals.

Current Playoff seedings April 2, 2011

Western Conference

CURRENT MATCHUP

(1) Vancouver (52-18-9, 113 pts)

(8) Chicago (42-27-8, 92 pts)

Regular season series (Series tied 2-2)

Vancouver's dreaded matchup , Chicago knocked the 'Nucks out the two
previous years but i'll take the 'Nucks in 6

(2) San Jose (46-23-9, 101 pts)

(7) Anaheim (44-29-5, 93 pts)

Regular season series (Sharks lead 3-2)

Apr 6, 2011 San Jose at Anaheim

Sharks in 6

(3) Detroit (45-23-10, 100 pts)

(6) Nashville (42-26-11, 95 pts)

Regular season series (Predators leads 4-2)

Upset special Preds in 5

(4) Los Angeles (45-27-6, 96 pts)

(5) Phoenix (42-25-12, 96 pts)

Regular season series (Coyotes leads 3-2)

Apr 6, 2011 Phoenix at Los Angeles

see this one going 7 games , homer in me sides with LA

2nd round would look like

(1) Vancouver (52-18-9, 113 pts)
vs
(6) Nashville (42-26-11, 95 pts)

Vancouver in 6 again

(2) San Jose (46-23-9, 101 pts)
vs
(4) Los Angeles (45-27-6, 96 pts)

This could be ugly , Sharks in 5

leaving a

(1) Vancouver (52-18-9, 113 pts)
vs
(2) San Jose (46-23-9, 101 pts)

'Nucks in a 7 - should be a good series.

I know everybody looks at the stats and sees a Coyotes team and a Predators team that scores at about the same clip as the Kings while allowing roughly the same amount of goals but I think people are forgetting one crucial element.

They've been playing like that all season.

Both teams have Defencemen jockeying for the scoring lead. They won't be adjusting their lineups desperately seeking a new "team identity".

Kopitar was being talked about as a potential Selke Trophy candidate and (despite his criticisms from the web based fan community) could probably have been considered a Dark Horse MVP.

I know my name sort of paints me as an eternal pessimist and I won't rule out the possibility of a first round upset... I just can't see this Kings team minus it's two leading scorers (and 1st and 4th TOI getting forwards) advancing past the first round.

I hope I'm wrong.

I expect the Kings to win the Cup. That is the goal at the start of the season, that should be the expectation.

With or without Kopitar, the Kings are a systematic, defense first team, with good goaltending. Their identity remains the same. Scoring goals will be more difficult, but the team has had success during this season even when Anze wasn't producing much.

I'm not trying to sound overly optimistic or naive, but the nice thing about being a good defensive team with solid netminding, is that it keeps you in games, you always have a chance to win.

Not that I would ever be upset to see the Kings win the cup, but I sure would like Kopitar to be the one that leads us there. That said, I hope Brown gets to lift the cup this year!

I expect Manchester to get further than the Kings again.

Toffoli should sign a deal this week and give some more firepower to Manchester.

I think the Kings can make it past one round relying on what they have now. They're that good collectively. But they need more firepower (more than just Kopitar and Williams) to win the cup. Penner was a good piece to the puzzle, just how that trade affected Kopi's play was enough of a payoff.

I think next year, with Schenn and possibly Lokti added (if they play to their current potential), it gives us a better chance at a cup run.

This year though, to have a good run pretty much everyone has to get hot at the same time. I hope it happens. I'd love to see guys like Poni, Simmer, Moller, Richardson, Clifford step up their scoring as well as keeping in line with their roles.

Also want to see Penner step it up. But on the positive side, I can see he seems frustrated at times. He recognizes he can be better. Must suck finally getting used to your linemates, then two of them go down to injuries. Hopefully he gets on a roll.

Oy, I typed a long post and then hit reply and the boards were down. This one will be a little shorter.

Seeing has we may face Nashville, a thought came to mind. I know Quick is the #1 (and should be in the POs), but Bernier is the goalie that owns the Preds. Do you give him a chance in a game or two against Nashville or do you play Quick unless he falters? With Bernier's success against them, can you NOT play him?

As far as match ups, I'm a little nervous if we meet up against Phoenix. We don't have a great track record against them and Bryz usually played well against us. We have trouble scoring as is, do we really need to play a team that we basically care barely score against the past few years?

I posted this in the pre-game talk right before it got closed... so I'll repost here, which makes the most sense.....

If we play the Ducks in the playoffs, there is one way to guarantee victory.

Clifford needs to give Emery the ol' Hanrahan treatment. Something tells me this will work flawlessly on Emery.

For those who don't understand this comment, stop liking hockey, go back in time, watch Slapshot, then start liking hockey again like a proper puckhead and get back to me.

Something tells me a Ducks series with Emery in net is the only possible time in life where I'd wish we still had Avery on our team.

Stoked to the Maxim...

Wellp as I am an old surf bum... I think its far out and Groovey we made the playoffs or should make them. I think we clinch tonite with a victory or some losses etc...
As some guys on our team could attest anything can happen in the playoffs, that being said...

Doubt god can heal Kopi before next season, and just hope Justin the brave and bold will not get more banged up. So its up to our young lads to step up and make this run if it is to be made... Good Luck Kings and thanks for the great efforts of all this season so far, been great to see the guys respond with the top two scorers and team leaders out. Interesing to see Stoll get the A after Kopi went down I was expecting Zues to get that. But happy for Jarred.

I think we could have won a round without Williams. Without Williams and Kopitar I can't see us winning a game in the playoffs unless we're playing Nashville.

... Yeah, I didn't feel he was difficult to replace at all. With Williams, it was more of when he would go down than if; he just doesn't play full seasons anymore, so it wasn't unexpected.
