I'm a Mets fan, so I get it. But really, I think it's the Rangers-Yankee fans that are the worst towards the Rangers. Because the Yankee fan just expects to always be the absolute best. Mets fans are generally more understanding that you can't always be good (especially when you're dealing with an actual budget). Mets fans don't really get angry, we get disappointed and quit early.

Really it's those who were *****ing about the team, coach and GM midgame that were the worst.

Just wanted to echo your sentiment here. Part of being a Rangers fan is dealing with the emotional rollercoaster caused by watching them play.

Some of us periodically need to catch our breath and for our own health's sake, perhaps turn a game off that looks like will be a blowout. Other people can endure such torture for a game.

It doesn't make any one of us less of a fan if we "give up" after watching almost every single game of the season and paying our money and cheering just as hard as the next guy who may not "give up" when all looks lost. Besides, giving up is not the same as turning the TV off anyway. I know I personally still follow a box score even if i'm not watching.

People need to keep their opinions to themselves especially when they are audaciously judging how good a fan someone is from their actions.

Bruins vs. Rangers in the first round would be the worst case scenario for both teams. They would grind each other down and I'd be willing to bet that whomever emerges will be easy pickings for the 2nd round opponent.

Also, what's the deal with this post game threads? It seems silly to end the GDTs early and essentially end conversations so abruptly. I guess this was discussed awhile ago, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents if the debate is at all alive.

Man, such a satisfying win. When they make you go from wanting to cry/punch things to shaking with adrenaline, it's a good night.

Believe it'd be the following scenarios.

Rangers WIN and
Hurricanes LOSE in regulation/OT/SO

Rangers LOSE in OT and
Hurricanes LOSE in regulation

I originally thought it could be
Rangers WIN in regulation or OT and
Hurricanes WIN in Shootout

However, Carolina would still be able to tie the Rangers in points and regulation wins. Which then would bring us to the head-to-head tie breaker which Carolina got 6 points and the Rangers got 4 in the head-to-head series.

Not sure why you're not impressed with them.

GDT's usually end as soon as the game is over because they reach their post limit of 1000. Mods sometimes let them go over 1000 if the game will be almost over but threads are always locked at 1000 on this board and it's usually necessary for a "Post game thread"

Sure, I can definitely agree with that. From my own perspective, I just keep wondering why the Rangers as a whole do not go to the net more, see what pops up. It's kind of telling how such a simple strategy, along with some pretty good puck sense and reflexes by Prospal, can be so effective. Yet, you don't see NYR do it that way regularly. Good teams adhere to such basics consistently.

That's why Prospal looks like such a hero to me. He did what every player should be doing. I do fault Tortorealla for the laziness or stupidity the team shows giving up chances for goals. They probably gave up 20 goals this season by not bothering their azzes about following up to the net.

Yep, whining that "Season is overrrrr!" is annoying. Maddening, really. I'll complain about and individual game, but leave it at that. Rooting for the Mets, Jets and Rangers, you always hold onto some hope that you'll make it in the end.

Exactly. I have to agree with nyr here and I find we don't agree about the state and future of the team. I was derided for "giving up on the team" in my seat and I could only laugh that they suddenly forgot the horrible start to the game and how the team in front of Hank gave up. Maybe if the team came out and didn't need a 3-0 beating to realize how important the game was.

Anybody else notice that great play by Kaberle to head towards the corner and leave Dubi all alone in front? A 1st and Colborne, what a trade.

Yeah, and tonight was a different story. Fitzy and I were the only two mods on tonight, and I peaced from the computer after the first. Fitzy I'm assuming watched the awesome end of the third, so no one was around to shut it down after 1000 posts.

The 1000 post thing is a site-wide policy. Something about searches and bandwidth or something.

Hey OT guys but I figure I can get a quick answer here. Question posed on Leaf board, anyone hear any storey as to why McCabe took #28? I know 24 is taken (little surprized Callaghn (I think?) didn't give it to him, kids usually do for vets but w/e) but any snippets as to why he chose #28?

This is what I don't get. The team has played great in their own zone for the vast majority of the season, and when the players commit a lazy or stupid play it's the coach's fault? If you're not going to pin blame on a player when he makes a lazy play, then when is he at fault?

Their dmen make a ton of boneheaded plays, ala Kaberle on the Dubinsky goal.

The team completely cracks under pressure. That goal by Sauer was horrid, never shot have gotten past Thomas. Chara has been awful the past few games, and never steps it up in the playoffs.

No gamebreaker, either.
