sorry to hear the news guys.

Cally is a heckuva player, would love to have a guy like that on my team.

unfortuantely, thats the risk you take blocking a chara shot. you have to wonder whether you tell your KEY players not to block his shot specifically.

really bad news there, good luck the rest of the way

There were unsubstantiated reports immediately following the game, so unfortunately, this theory doesn't hold water.

I credit the Rangers for sitting on the news for 12 hours, if true, so as to allow me a brief moment of bliss after our victory.

So I think some of the "season's over" proclamations are premature. Now would be a great time for Gaborik to start playing like Gaborik and carry this team offensively.
Agreed...and Drury's time is here. Take it or leave it, he has a shot at redemption right now to slip into this lineup.

...OR his ankle swelled up overnight. We're all jumping to conclusions a bit now. Deep breaths, Rangers fans. What's done is done. What will be, will be. This team, just as life, will move on. It may suck, but it's not like our season is over. We still have to qualify for the playoffs. Eyes on the prize. One day at a time.

Okay, I'm out of relevant cliches. LGR!

interesting that Marian Gaborik is one of the 12 skaters today...as is Chris Drury, who looks pretty good skating out there...

Not this specific injury/block shot.

I'm speaking in general terms.

For ex. I wouldn't block shots up or even down 4 goals in the 3rd.

The Rangers are always blocking shots despite game situation.

That's great but it comes at a price sometimes.

Happened to David Clarkson last year. Blocking slapshot from ZC. Never been the same player since.

What I want to know is why does the New York radio station that doesn't even care the team or care about hockey know this, but the beat reporters don't?

Am I missing something?

well this is terrible........Really I did'nt expect them to win the cup or anything but it would of been nice to make a run at an upset in the first round. First they have to make it still but 2nd I can;'t see them doing much in the playoffs without Cally......huge bummer after a huge win

I have to agree with you.

His PP and PK become crucial now. With Callahan out he actually can serve a role on this team.

Sucks if true, but it's still some time before the Next game - if it's just a swelling..

This couldint be W2, i mean come on we need this guy in the playoffs, this really sucks. I would hope Zucc makes best of his second chance.

I am hearing NYR Ryan Callahan has a broken ankle, courtesy of a blocked Zdeno Chara shot last night.

No idea on timeline for Callahan. Timelines go out the window at this time of year. A break is better than a sprain. Still not good, tho.
McKenzie is reliable.

they dont, they know about as much as any of us do. their just jumping to baseless conclusions, while if a beat writer did that theyd loose all their creditability.

PK allright, he can still do that. But PP? He has shown nothing in his short injury-free time this season that suggested that he could contribute offensively in any way, shape or form. I think with Boogard out, there is no forward on this team that is worse offensively than present day Drury returning from two major injuries.

I really don't want to bash Drury, but his contribution to this team will really only be PK, faceoffs and hopefully leadership. Anything more has to be wishful thinking considering his play this season.

But I agree that he can at least replace those aspects of Callahan, for the goals and assists we need other players to step up (I'm looking at you Marian Gaborik)

Seriously? ... Wishing another player got hurt? Ah, fans these days.

Anyway, it is a major blow for us but what can you do. Stop crying and man up. Rangers can still make it to the playoffs and go deep in the playoffs. Zuc or Drury will take his spot.

All im saying is LGR. Don't let us down boys!
