If claimed, Leighton not eligible to play for new team now or in playoffs. He would be a bargain at $800K next season.
any takers?

I could see Ottawa picking up Leighton as he would be a good backup for Anderson next year.

Sens could take Kennedy just to get a body to replace Svatos. We've been decimating the farm due to all our injuries.

I would have to believe that someone grabs Leighton for just $800k next year. He's been among the AHL's best this year.

I would not be suprised to see the BlueJackets jump all over this. A possible challenger to push Mason and at a bargain price. It's obvious we are not going to get a top tier UFA g-man so this may be the next best option.

One of MTL-NYR-BUF should be grabbing Leighton as a pre-emptive move.

I doubt the Rangers take him.
They have Biron back next year under an equally cheap contract. No real need for a 3rd guy, even though I'm not questioning Leighton as a solid goaltender.
I'm sure someone will grab him.

i'd love for Chicago to take a chance on Leighton
at 775k next year, you probably wont' get a more experienced goalie for cheaper
and gives a little insurance if you can't sign crawford
assuming that crawford signs at around 2.2 or something
you can have both goalies under 3.. not too too bad i'd say

Ottawa should claim Leighton to back up Anderson instead of trying to re-sign McElhinney. The cost would be somewhat comparable but Leighton is a much better tender.
Of course, this would probably result in Ottawa winning more games...so as long as that meshes with the rebuild it would make a lot of sense.

Absolutely zero good can come from recalling Leighton.

montreal needs a backup for price next year, and this could prevent philly from playing him against them in the playoffs.
sabres have enroth, but lalime will be gone. Possibility, and playoff-blocking vs philly of course.
a few non playoff teams could use backups for next year, ottawa being the obvious one.

Buffalo grabs Kennedy to make up for the stupid decision to buy him out now that the organization actually has money, that is unless Regier is dumb.

Unless something changed from the last time Kennedy was waived, he can't play for another team this season, only Florida. Was talked about when he was acquired at the deadline.
Showed nothing in his very brief stay with the Panthers.

Like what, bringing the Flyers to the finals again? Say whatever you want, the guy had 3 shutouts in the semi-finals.

For the same reason Homer seems to do 40% of his moves:

The Habs had around 5 good chances in those 3 games combined.

No. The Flyers made it to the Finals
despite Leighton, not because of him.

If he's such a bargain for next year, the Oilers should just claim him and trade him in the offseason.
