Its like the hockey gods can never let us be happy to be Ranger fans. We're all still feeling good from that awesome win last night, and then BAM! Callahan is out for the season. They build us up just to break us back down again lol

Stepanformayor broke this last night and I had a bad feeling it was right cause we had the same thing when Biron got hurt and we had an inside source. Hopefully gabby w dubi and Artie will get gabby going, i think we will see zucc or maybe even kolarik called up if drury isn't ready for the playoffs. Hopefully the break is not a shatter and just a fracture. This blows

Oh well. Some teams just have that injury bug following them around the entire year.
If by "injury bug" you mean 105mph pucks flying at their ankles.

This is simply a bi-product of our identity and the way we play. We have to accept it, because it we didn't play this way, we would have been eliminated from playoff contention weeks ago.

I think it would be a lot more devastating if it was Lundqvist who was the one who was injured instead of Cally....

I really dont get it, i mean Gilroy is worth a try up front but i am suprised with not calling up MZA, atleast for depth or put pressure on guys in lineup. I mean were going to become a pretty soft team with the likes of W2, Gilroy, Christ, Gabs, thats not going to compliment our style of play, we need to be tough to play against.

Blocking shots is one thing but this is frickin retarded. Use some common sense. This is our “style” now?
Great. Year after year we get look to look forward to our top players dropping in and out of the lineup for weeks at a time, due to injuries resulting from blocking shots.

Well, maybe they want to keep MZA in HFD to help them make the playoffs. Plus it's only four callups allowed until the Whale are eliminated (except for emergencies)

Wouldn't be eligible for the playoffs anyway, so makes no sense.

It's also why the team hardly had any injuries under Renney.

I dunno why people think Gilroy at RW is really a good thing. A soft speedy winger who can't score? Alright. I mean, sure why not give it a go, but I don't think we should expect much out of Gilroy playing forward

Would not be allowed to play for us.

Our only RW reinforcements are Zuccarello and Weise.

Drury may eventually be back, Frolov will not. Boogaard is unlikely to be used.

Dave Lozo has fractured leg:

Rangers lose Callahan to fractured leg Tuesday, 04.05.2011 / 1:36 PM / News By Dave Lozo - NHL.com Staff Writer

Just hours after their biggest win of the season, the New York Rangers received crushing news about perhaps their most important player.

Forward Ryan Callahan is out "long term" after fracturing his right leg during Monday's 5-3 comeback win against the Boston Bruins at Madison Square Garden. Callahan suffered the injury blocking a shot by defenseman Zdeno Chara with 1:45 left in the third period and did not return.

You saw him play wing? How do know he can't score?

do you really believe that the only way the team won yesterday or has been winning lately is directly related to shot blocking?

Well Gilroy was a forward before he went to college.

Huge loss.

Certainly not going to help us get past the first round, let alone any attempt at a Cup. You need players like Callahan to win a Cup.

That being said, there were no big expectations, he helped us make the playoffs, did his best... etc.. He'll come back next season, 100%, and we'll be a better team with him next year. I don't think any of us were expecting a deep playoff run anyhow.

We'll see how we do without him though, we've done well with major injuries all season, lets see if that translates into the playoffs.

Its certainly a part of it, I dont know how you could say otherwise. On a higher level, it fits perfectly with this team's identity of hard work and sacrifice.

Theres no way we can talk about "bad luck" or "the injury bug" with this team - its how they play to make up for talent shortcomings. Its how they have to play to win, and unfortunately injuries will be a direct byproduct.
