what's even worse is the number of Flyers fans on twitter who appear to be ecstatic that Leighton will be playing again

Not a good one, since a lot of folks have confusion about waiver rules and playoff rosters.

I'm Homer fan #1. If he gets claimed, there will be no excuses. Just like the Randy Jones move. When bad moves are made I call them out, I don't, however find a reason to say that every move he has ever made is the worst move in NHL history without waiting for the moves to play out and actually see if they work.

Well, almost all the moves that his critics panned in the offseason went as expected.

You know what is sad..maybe we wouldn't have had to trade our first if some of those offseason moves weren't so misguided. There was too much money spent for so little ROI with Leighton, Walker, Shelley and Zherdev.

I'm so mad right now. I just don't get it. How can he possibly make the same stupid mistakes over and over?

Would we need to pay half of his salary for the duration of his contract or just this year?

So is the waiver only 24hrs or is it 48hrs? When do we find out?

Rookie goalie Sergei Bobrovsky will be the team's playoff starter, according to sources, though that announcement likely won't be made until after this weekend's regular-season games end.

In conjunction with that, the Flyers placed goalie Michael Leighton on re-entry waivers Tuesday at noon.

Sources tell CSNPhilly.com that the Flyers would like to use Leighton in Friday's game at Buffalo.

Though Leighton has played well with the Phantoms, the Flyers are still concerned about his back. He requires daily work on the herniated disk injury he had surgically repaired last fall, sources said. Because of that, pinpointing when he plays is not exact but the team wants him to play in one of the final two regular-season games. The season ends Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center against New York Islanders.

General manager Paul Holmgren would only confirm to CSNPhilly.com that Leighton represented "depth" on the playoff roster.

I want everyone to focus on the bold. Holmgren is taking a MASSIVE RISK with a player they're not even medically comfortable with in the event he does pass through waivers.
