Just a thought.
Right??? How the hell are we supposed to notice if Cally is giving extra effort?

Prust is going to win it this year.

So I voted for Boyle to make him feel better

Prust for me. Call it a homer vote but his 15 fights and 5-2-7 shorthanded really stand out to me. He also takes on any fighter which with Boogaard being out (thank goodness), fills a great need on our team for toughness. His checking and defensive game aren't bad either

Callahan is amazing as well. To the point where we're spoiled by it. as others are pointing out, how are we supposed to notice extra effort? I seriously can't wait till they finally make him the captain.

In a perfect world Boyle and Prust would split it. Maybe they round the numbers so it happens that way.

Prediction: I think Boyle gets it solely because of a skewed vote where a lot of the homers see he's scored more goals than Prust and that is their vote.

Should probably make this a poll, no?

EDIT: Prust for me.

I'd be happy with Prust or Boyle. I think Prust plays with the extra effort in game consistently, but Boyle put in so much effort over the summer, and still in games, to become a legitimate NHL player.

Cally passes on the mantle to one of them and is given the C.

Went with Prust but Boyle definitely deserves it as well. Either one would be a great choice.

Anyone else get those text messages from the rangers every now and again, and get one last night and looked like it was part of the results of the voting? very odd. it cuts off halfway thru the roster, but shows cally with 26% of the vote...

I'd give it to Tortorella for not being as aggressive with reporters as last season. Has he confronted Brooks this season?

Give it to JT.

Callahan should be our next captain--or Staal--though I'd give the edge to Callahan.
Even so--this award I'd give to Girardi. Leads the league in blocked shots. Leads the Rangers in pts. by a defenseman. He hits but doesn't take many penalties and gets well over 20 minutes a game. He's solid as a rock.

when the A comes off of Cally and the C is on him, Girardi should get some of the consideration for the other A, i believe besides Hank, that Girardi leads the Rangers in games played, before it was Rozsival..

And I also got that text with voting results that cut off halfway through.

I love Prust--thought he was the best part in that deal the day it was made but after Lundqvist the bedrock of the team are Staal, Girardi, Callahan and Dubinsky. Stepan, McDonagh, Sauer might be joining them in the next season or two--or even Anisimov. Boyle and Prust I'd fit after them. Boyle as a 6'7" forward who can be a scoring threat is a big asset. Prust--a guy who can fight, make clutch plays and be a threat shorthanded--can't say enough about him but it's still Girardi for this award--just a solid guy and leading the league (not just the Rangers) in blocked shots is really huge.

I voted for Boyle for that reason. Plus I like to pick someone other than the obvious (which is pretty much how I view Callahan).

I'd put the argument that Staal should get this award. He plays in every situation, shuts down the other teams top lines and plays nearly half the game. I'd say he's shown extra effort this season.

Prust though it could easily be given to Callahan or Girardi.
