If I were a betting man, I'd wager that Green is good to go for the playoffs, but not a minute before then.

The Caps haven't had a must-win game in a long time. They've been resting guys up as much as possible at every opportunity. Wideman sounds like he's out for the season. Poti... well, we have no idea. Yet it looks like Green and Erskine are healing up and figure to be as close to tip top for the playoffs as possible, though.

The Caps don't talk about injuries, but there's a different vibe for each of the guys who is out. Wideman is so out they aren't even hiding anything. Poti? Total mystery. I'd guess he's a later-round possibility at best, but realistic enough that they are under media lockdown. They are making it look like the other two could play today in an emergency situation, but there is no strong need to rush anyone. We don't actually know anything, but my guess is that Green is a lot closer than they let on.

is my theory that poti is significantly damaged and possibly a season long LTIR guy next season gaining any ground with you?

green playing his first game back after the concussion in game one is going to make things pretty nervy around here.

This.

Green is one of our high priority assets and people are going to be nervous about him being beat up for a long time. Considering that as far as Washington goes, he gets run more than anyone on the team, (unless someone that night fancies a piece of Ovechkin) this is a completely valid concern.

RE: Green I suspect he plays the last regular season game and not tomorrow.

For tonights game I get the feeling it will be one of those where the caps come out the gate slow as Toronto will be playing hard and get down a couple of goals.

Yeah, it seems like there's a better than decent chance that Green plays Saturday.

If Green comes back, I doubt he's out there much. He'll probably be a third pairing, and full time PP-QB.

I don't think Poti is coming back period. Has the guy even skated? I think he's done. If he wasn't, Wideman wouldn't have been added with term.

To my knowledge Poti has been taking morning skates and practiced some with the team recently. While I don't necessarily think we'd miss Poti, there is still the question of his ridiculous contract.

i dont think that is what will be making our forum nervous. green getting hurt again. its green turning the puck over and over again. green shying away from contact like pothier did. its green being last playoffs green or worse.

the injury bug has hit us at the worst time, or maybe the best, testing us in the face of adversity. my opinions on the current D.

Green- Comes back in Game 1, plays limited 5 on 5 minutes, qb's the pp, with 2 45 second shifts, each time he's out. No reason to rush him, just to get 1st in the EC.
Poti- Sadly, I think he's done for, at least in a Caps uniform, I feel. Ultimately too fragile to throw back on the ice. Ice cube's chance in hell of playing in the playoffs, unless we make the SCF's.
Wideman- Done for the season, or at least til later rounds of the playoffs. Hopefully will be around next season, unless GMGM disagrees.
Sloan- Will hopefully stay off the NHL ice...forever. Send him down already!!!
Collins- Sticks around til someone comes back.
Erskine- Will probably get another night or two off, just to let him heal up a little more.
Carlzner- Will lead the way and hopefully stay out of harm's way.
Schultz- Continues to be our 2nd slowest defenseman out there, and eats up some of the minutes Wideman had.
Hannan- Same as above, but is the 3rd slowest.

If The Caps can get even minor contributions out of Green or Poti they're vastly better in their own end compared to last year with Hannan, Carlzner and a competent PK.

They need to come out with piss and vinegar in the 1st rd, get it over in 5-6 games and allow for another one of their D-men to get back for a run.

Can't forget Poti! Whenever he's in the lineup anyway, he's a top "whippin boy" candidate!

I know ya werent directing at me, but you can bet BB and GMGM's biggest dream is for Poti to return for the playoffs, just long enough for Wideman to come back, then reinjure himself and be a next season LTIR.. That or there gonna seriously have to consider buring him in the AHL, while still paying him through the nose..

What I dont get, is if his groin injury was that bad, why didnt they recommend surgery (ie: Clinton Portis) so he could of realistically came back before the season ended?? Unless he did have surgery and I missed it?

I'll admit it. I want the 1 seed. No team's been the back to back 1 in a long time in the east.

i think that the caps are in trouble if carlson is the only puck mover playing. yes, they are better in their own end, but they will get pinned in their own end anyway and will have major problems getting offense going.

Hannan can't pass. Schultz can pass but can't get to loose pucks. Erskine cant pass or get to loose pucks.

Brooks Laich for defense.

The lack of puckmovers makes winger board battles at the blueline all the more important. If they're soft it's really problematic.

It was just one game but Collins' puck movement was effective vs. BUF.

Just because I'm a mean person: the latest tweet from Vogs -- aka captain obvious:

The make-up of the lines are often a function of who is in and who is out of the lineup. Could change with health and playoffs.

Wow. A very nice introduction of the the Toronto Team. Close up action shots with a bio.

Carlson also got a mention with picture.

I think its more about Laich getting some time at the center position is why he is playing wing tonight.

Neuvirth happened.

Caps are going to be a quick 1st round exit unless Bruce starts Holtby or Neuvirth stops ******** the bed every game.

Poor gaps, no urgency, less than stellar goaltending.
