With the limited information they've released about the prognosis/extent of the injury, I wouldn't be surprised if Callahan returned in the playoffs if we make it and if we get past the first round.

Callahan is built to play in the playoffs. This is a devastating loss for us. I just hope that (magically) if we make it to the conference finals or further, that he's able to play. It would not look right for us to be deep in the playoffs and for him to not be on the ice.

The team will suffer without him but someone has to step it up and try and fill the void

This. I'm not even as worried about how it effects our chances in the postseason anymore. Callahan took a ton of abuse this year, I really hope it doesn't negatively effect him long term.

Someone earlier in the thread mentioned it was something like 10-7-2

I think it's a little unrealistic to expect him to return.

I the best of circumstances, a fracture with no bone out of place, that requires no sugery, and with minmal ligament damage, is going to be in a cast for 6 weeks.

That's 6 weeks before you can even begin therapy to prepare you to start to skate again. So lets say, 7-8 weeks from now, he starts skating, that's June, or at best Memorial Day weekend.

He'll be nowhere near game-shape. You can't do much cardio on one leg.

Torts said it: He's done.

It's terrible luck for a guy who really gives his heart and soul for this team every night. You think we're disappointed? Cally must be devastated.

Team has got to push on without him as best they can. Secure the playoff spot and keep trying to win games.

This is a real test.

Great point.

I think the team can overcome if some guys step up and play the way that they are capable of playing. If Gaborik, Wolski and/or Dubi can find their prime forms again this team can be very dangerous.

It's just really cruel that Cally, who's one of the biggest reasons we'd be in the POs in the first place, won't get to play in them.

Wanted to vomit the moment I heard the news. DEVASTATING! The only thing worse would be losing Henrick.

Losing Staal would be a hell of a lot worse IMO.

I don't even think the Rangers are in the top 10 in man games lost to injury this season.

They've not had it as rough as ESPN continually states (e.g., "Injury-riddled Rangers....").

That said, Callihan is the Rangers in my opinion. He should be their next captain for a multitude of reasons. Other than Lundqvist, there's not a more important player on that team that they can ill-afford to lose.
