The biggest positives out of this season

With the season coming to an end, what do you take out of it as the biggest positives?

For me, the big one is Spezza stepping up, he's showed that he can and will be our next captain, and has elevated his game to where he is the best player on the ice for either team almost every shift.

Also Karlsson being a baller.

Spezza, Karlsson of course.

I was surprised at how effective depth players like Condra and Greening could be. Guys that don't project to be top-six players contributing.

Also, to a lesser extent, Wiercioch. People had completely forgotten about him, but he looks really good out there. It's like finding twenty bucks in your winter coat pocket that you left there since last year.

I would say Jason Spezza leading our team....when he was out for a month and a bit with a shoulder injuy our team won 1 GAME that shows how big of a player he is for us IMO

Anderson.

Say what you will about our draft position but I'm glad that we appear to have a solution in net for next season. Should he provide us with solid goaltending, I don't see why this team can't fight for one of the final playoff spots next season.

Also, everyone knew that this team was eventually going to have to be rebuild/retooled... it wasn't pleasant but it happened and honestly, we aren't as bad as our position says... if Spezza didn't get hurt right after Christmas, this team definitely wouldn't be in the bottom 5. Having said that, it's been great to see the kids play and show their stuff. This franchise is definitely on the right track

Not the biggest positive but Brian Lee showing he is an NHL defenseman.

1) Spezza being Spezza
2) EK being a ****ing allstar
3) Rookies stepping up (Condra, Greening, Butler)
4) Lee emerging as an NHLer
5) Da Costa signing
6) Anderson
7) Rundblad/Cowen/Stone being generally awesome
8) A top 6 pick

Brian Lee really proved himself this season and his work ethic after being healthy scratched and put on waivers...

For me the biggest positive is that this team isn't anywhere near as bad as the record indicates. The Senators aren't a great team by any stretch of the imagination but they're definitely better than most people think.

The sens futile goaltender search has finally found the pot'o'gold at the end of the rainbow. The sens will never have a goaltending issue again!!

Honestly, there isn't much that I don't think as positives coming out of the season.

When the team we had started to suck, I was like, sheesh, this sucks. Why is this happening? For me a huge positive is the fact that we actually didn't just stick with the mediocre team we had, but we actually made changes. And some good ones at that.

1) Spezza's play
2) Karlsson
3) Andersson trade
4) Getting something (even if its a 7th pick) for Kovalev
5) The hard working nature of the younger guys (ie. Butler, Greening, Condra... ect)
6) The fact that we went from a team with NO heart/hard work, to a team that is actually exciting to watch, and even when down, is fighting back.

I wouldn't think we would be a playoff team next year, but I do think we are moving in a good direction. At least I'm excited to see what this team can do next year. As long as they make it fun to watch, I will be happy.

getting rid of Kovalev. We had a reputation of being a lazy team, and Kovalev solidified it. Now with these young guys coming in, players are going to have to work for their jobs, and we're going to see some excitement

It's almost over, and we can enjoy the playoff stress free. Hopefully for not much longer though

1 word: Rebuild.

Thank God management finally got their heads out of their collective ***** and decided to blow this thing up. It should have been done two years ago but better late than never. Getting rid of Fisher is #2 on my list. We needed to get rid of that contract for so many reasons it's not even funny.

I would have like for Phillips to leave also but you can't win it all. At least it's a start.

Seriously though Spezza's leadership by far the biggest surprise for me. Seems like he's earning his paycheck (or at least half of it)

Agreed with everyone above.

I am pretty happy that the team went for a rebuild rather than continuing with a stagnent team who continues to be middle of the road, as they continue to age.

I think we`ve done well. Not perfect, but its been good.

And SPEZZA!!!

All the previously mentioned reasons are great BUT Suiteness saying something positive about the team . Maybe brighter days are closer then I thought.

Shannon

Since being given more responsibility (Feb. 23) due to the trades, he has 14 points in 21 games. And very reliable player on defense too.

Haha, everytime anyone talks about shannon, I laugh. Not because he`s not doing well. He`s been good with the minutes he`s been given. But in the London paper at the beginning of the season, there was an article listing NHLers by team that were ones to look out for and ones on the decline. The only declining Sens player listed was none other than Shannon!

No sh_t. Most fans didn't even have him on the roster on message boards yet he had a one-way. 26 points for #26!!!
