Awesome night for Spezza... always fun to watch games when you win.

You are giving him too much credit, his best numbers came after the Sens were eliminated in 2008-2009 and again at the end of this year.

IMO he didn't do very well in last year's playoffs at all, he was in fact outcoached badly.

While he may do well in the future as you suggest, I just don't believe his personality and interpersonal skills will ever allow him to be really successful at the professional level. I sincerely hope he has only two games left in Ottawa.

Basically how I see it as well. Some coaches are just better suited to junior, there's no shame in that.

Better question would be what has he done to deserve so little ice time????

Clouston is once again showing why he should be sent packing. Its not like the Sens are playing for playoff position, why not give the kid a reasonable opportunity to play a little??

While I agree players need to earn their time and place, playing Wick and Da Costa on the fourth line really isn't an opportunity at all.

Seems to me some of you forget, Clouston did the same thing with Butler, Greening and Condra and they didn't look very good then either. It wasn't until Murray made the trades, then Clouston was forced to give the kids a real opportunity.

Interesting how that is working out now, isn't it.

Yet, I do have to remark that he isn't exactly on par with NHL speed just yet. But like come on, its his 2nd NHL game straight out of college. Im sure he has noticed this as he himself has said he needs to work this summer.

Wait, we're still behind the Islanders even though we won?

I take back my previous comments! Great win! Spezza is awesome!

They've played fewer games (the first tie breaker), after they lose their next one they'll drop below us as we have more wins.

Man, has anyone noticed recently that Spezza can pretty much skate into the opposing D-zone at will with the puck? It's uncanny. It's not just tonight either it's like...every game. He just waltzes in there like it's his house.

Karlsson does it too when he's pissed off. It's pretty sweet.

Well I stated it once, he's straight out of college, never had an NHL training camp ever, hasn't even prepared for NHL hockey. Sorry but Im not really shocked the guy isn't getting a ton of minutes, especially when going up against the talented stacked forwards the Flyers have. Seems like he's being treated like any other kid in his position would be treated on any other team.

Agree to disagree then on last years playoffs.

It seems that most people are willing to give Murray a second chance because of how he handled the team firesale, but somehow Clouston is being made into a scapegoat now and he's the source of all these problems, where's his second chance? Seems to me with these younger guys now they are buying into what Clouston is saying more and more.

I think he's gone anyway IMO at the end of the season no matter what, so its all moot anyway I guess. Hell it seems like Garrioch hates him, so he must be doing one thing right at least.

Just to add to this, he has eased them into the lineup, just as he did with guys like Butler. Butler played great at first due to the adrenaline of playing up in the NHL again this year but then showed fatigue. CC made the right move by dropping him down to the 4th line to insulate him and avoided BB making costly mistakes due to fatigue or just not being prepared to play at the next level. It is now paying dividends and he is on the first line - a position he earned

Vanek essentially clinched a spot for Buffalo, Price broke math with his 43 Saves on 42 Shots. Dubnyk shut out Vancouver I guess.

I can see why Spezza didn't, but he was unstoppable today, tough competition though.

Spezza was in beast mode tonight, him & Andy wow!.. & with all those PP's you'd think the Flyers would have dominated.

Haha, not bad. Got the score exactly right. That works for me.

And who knew the Flyers we're going to be this bad considering 1st place in the east was in play. Plus, at this point, they should be looking to right the ship before it's too late and they get bounced by an hungrier team in the 1st round.

Not sure I'd give them the edge against their two likelier opponents, the Rags and the Slugs.

Ah well, I'm sorta proud of Spezza, whom I have harshly criticized this season. He's showing a lot of promise for next season if he can stay healthy. Very reassuring given his early woes in the fall and subsequent injury problems.
