palffy or kariya

am i the only one who wants kariya? man, just imagine how pissed off ducks fans would be if we got him. that and i think kariya may come in at a cheaper price then ziggy. he's just as big a game changing force and it'd be real interesting what he could do for our team.

but i woouldn't be too angry getting ziggy either.

HELL NO, to Paul Kariya!

HELL YES, to Ziggy Palffy! He's magic on the ice, and with Roenick he would prosper even more.

He's also injury prone, out of shape half the time, and really, really doesn't like L.A.

Half of the Europeans in the game are injury prone. Players that play hard often get injured. I can't remember the last time Ziggy came to camp out of shape (or got injured because of muscle problems). It's BS that's been built up out of proportion. To play Professional hockey you have to be in great shape. He just doesn't like the fitness aspect of it. Even his ex (Zora) had implemented different excercises for him to do. Tell you the truth who gives a ***** what he does on his fitness regime, as long he entertains us.

As for really, really hating LA. That is such BS, and he has already stated in the past how much he loves playing here. The hating in LA, actually means he hates playing for AM. Money is that greedy ******** concern right now, and he's looking for the biggest offer. You could also blame his agent, who's a complete ******!

I think you're forgetting that he was one of the best players in the league the last year he played (before he went down with an injury). That had to do with his fitness, and his quickness on the puck. He was devastating!

I'd like to have both, but if I had to choose, it would be Kariya...

If the money is close then Palffy for sure

Atleast we know he's been playing during the lockout...

But if the difference is 3 million and 6 million then we go with Kariya.

Are you kidding? Doesn't he miss a week or so every October with a groin pull?

am i the only one who's a little concerned about SJ getting kariya...they were already pretty good before, and if they get Kariya, they have a legit sniper to go along with Marleau which they didnt have before...and sturm is coming back too

At this point, Phoenix is much more scary than SJ, even if they (SJ) do sign the mighty midget.

Karyia will have to play more of the passer on a line with Marleau because he's the shooter. Which is fine because PK has become more of a playmaker in the last few years than a pure sniper.

I do think he will end up there as well. Playing under Wilson, where he had his last great success, will be too much for him to resist.

I think the Pacific may end up being the toughest division in the entire league.

Tough call, IMHO.

On one hand, Palffy and Demitra would be a great pair. On the other hand, I think Kariya would play very well on a line with JR, and can quarterback the PP.

Kariya would be a less expensive signing, which would hopefully give DT more room to get a solid defenseman.

I think that Kariya is due for a rebound year with some quality ice time and some linemates that can open up some room for him (JR and Brown?), and honestly he strikes me more as an Andy Murray type player than Palffy. He's incredibly dedicated to the game and has a lot to prove.

So yeah, I think Ziggy is a premiere talent in the NHL and I would be more than happy to see him back in LA, but he comes with some baggage, as mentioned in this thread, with his attitude towards LA, coming to camp in shape, and playing in AM's system.

I just have a feeling that Kariya might be a better fit for this team, this year.

We may be slightly biased but I think your right, its going to be some great hockey with the added rivalry games.

Also, I wouldn't rule out Selanne. He could be pretty cheap, too... he has speed, and is due to at least make some sort of rebound from his bad year.

Plus he's a RW.

This is just me but i think a while back he said he doesnt want to come back here - I believe at one point we were trying to get him (Dont know why i think this just remember something)..... Ya as for Palffy Kariya as long as we get either i'm happy both have their positives and negatives - Palffy is better but Kariya fills better needs and prob cheaper

Ummmm, NO! Check his game by game stats........here ya' go!

http://www.nhl.com/players/8458540.html

I'm not saying the guy isn't fragile. He can get thrown around like a rag doll. But is his game toughness? NO. Gretzky was about 170lbs wet.........But he had protection every where he went! Ziggy's injuries have nothing to do with conditioning! He's a human target, and most nights he's protecting himself.........

Sometimes I don't know if we're watching games, or just buying into the BS that's fed to us. I was at the Kings/Ducks game where Ziggy got taken out. It was dirty, but our brass claims it was an accident just like JA. It's pretty embarassing!

I think that our D is pretty mean and hard hitting though.

Miller, Norstrom, Corvo, Gleason, and Dempsey are all not afraid to through the body. When and I mean when Blake comes back next year we will have another guy standing people up on the blueline. I think our D looks scarier next year possibly.

Petiot/Baier-Norstrom
Gleason-Blake
Visnovski-Miller/Dempsey

Yeah Ziggy's tough for his size. It's just that he's been the only guy teams had to focus on for two years, and he's taken a ton of punishment.

Remember a few years ago when Ziggy laid out Korolyuk?

Next year?
  • Norstrom: UFA
  • Miller: UFA
  • Baier: still at college
  • Petiot: maybe
  • Blake: he's almost 40...

Miller has one more year
Blake is like 35 I think
Norstrom will resign for sure

How can you not get excited about a possible Gleason-Blake Combo! Forwards would fall down just thinking about going through the middle or against the boards.
