Chris Tanev and Yann Sauve re-assigned to Manitoba

First off, glad he's healthy so that he can be re-assigned. And second, I'm glad he is because he is low on our D depth chart. Rather him play in the playoffs with Manitoba (they need all the D help they can get) than sit in the press box.

TEAM1040
Per @garylawless, out of Winnipeg: Chris tanev en route to join moose

when the seasons over usually all the playoff teams will probably recall a few forwards + defencemen back..tanev could return..but we looking pretty deep at the moment

What an amazing year for a kid who pretty much came out of nowhere to play 29 games on the best team, in the best league in the world.

I'm quite excited to see that 6 in action, and frankly more than happy with how that defense looks when inevitably one or two of those guys has to miss a game or two due to injury.

Did they already reassign Rico?

Btw I nicknamed Yann Sauve "Rico Sauve". You're welcome

Rico...it could work.

To my knowledge, they haven't. I believe Sauve was an emergency call-up for Tanev's injury...I know Tanev was demoted to save cap space for Edler's return. I wonder if Sauve is now up in place of Alberts until he can return to the lineup?

Think they'll need to re-assign Sauve as well to fit Edler in, but they may be waiting until tomorrow just to make sure Edler is ready to go.

Considering how solid he looked with the big club in fairly large sample size of games (29), you have to wonder just how good he'll be down at the AHL level. Needless to say, this is an absolute blessing for the Moose, maybe even moreso than getting Edler back is for the Canucks.

He should be. He's already resumed skating on his own and hopefully soon should be back practicing with the team (barring any setbacks.)

I wouldn't get used to that lineup. We're bound to have another injury or five.

Watch him struggle down there... seems like the players that get called up play better here then down in the AHL

It really is a remarkable story. A classic late bloomer who went through a late growth spurt to make a career possible.

Three years ago, he wasn't on anybody's radar. Two years ago, he was playing his 20-year-old season in Junior A in Ontario. (Note: those Ontario leagues aren't near the calibre of the BCHL). A year in college, half a year in the AHL, and he's playing steady defenceman minutes for the President's Trophy champions.

He's been a solid guy for us when our blue-line has been beat up. Solid, understated defenceman. My guess is he'll be back at some point in the playoffs. But he's earned a long look for next season.

AHL play is much more scrambled. The system isn't followed through as one might like

Tanev did earn his spot to get called-up here, so he shoud be able to re-adjust

I'm hoping Noel force-feeds him PP time and in general encourages his offence. That and strength
are what he needs to work on.

We're here at MTS Centre for Moose skate and as expected, D Chris Tanev and D Yann Sauve are both on the ice, back from Vancouver Canucks

I expect Salo to be injured before the 1st round is over....Besides, Aaron Rome is the glue that holds our D together, we need him playing 20 minutes a game and on the PP.
