It's not that clear.... 18 year olds have different development curves so the most skilled player at the time of the draft isn't necessarily the draft pick with the highest ceiling/potential.

Carl Hagelin for example... In an interview with a friend of his from Sweden, his friend says Carl had a grown spurt when he was 19 and his legs just got massive and that's when his skating really kicked into high gear.... No doubt Hagelin (5th rounder) would have been a late 1st/early 2nd round pick if the scouts had any inkling that he would develop into the forward that he is today.
Agreed. Plus, even when you decide what the definition of BPA is, there's going to be significant disagreement about who is a better player at the margins. Players are just too close to rank numerically.

I think a far more realistic approach is BPA by "tier." Clearly, in 2010, Hall and Seguin were of a class unto themselves. Picking between them was a matter of preference. They were the "tier A" players in the draft. Picking BPA means picking one of the players in the highest "tier" available. Which one of them you took was simply a matter of organizational preference.

Essentially, BPA is a great concept for fans to champion, but in practice, it's far too gray.

Thanks, do you know which time slot the Michigan game is getting? If it's 7, I won't be able to watch because I'll be recording the Ranger game and won't get home from work until 9 or so.

Doh! I'll have to see if my roommate is going to be home or not.... If he is, I won't be able to record both the Ranger & Michigan game or else he won't be able to watch TV....

Frustrating to see Notre Dame get this far when they should've lost to Merrimack.

Bite your tongue; Coach Jackson doing a helluva job. My only problem is I have to cheer for Anders Lee (NYI). ND is better than Merrimack anyhow; Imagine the fun I will have if its Mich v ND Haglin v Lee; of course I will root for my alma mater University of Notre Dame du Lac

Dunno if anyone mentioned it, but Scott Stajcer actually returned to the ice. He played nine minutes and stopped the only shot he faced.

Another rumor: Philip Samuelsson is leaving to go pro in Sweden. I'll try to get this one confirmed by BC, too.

On Twitter: http://twitter.com/HeightsSports/sta...19095182782469. By the time the semester is over and the Rangers make another attempt to sign Kreider there won't be anyone left at BC.

Wiebe had 44 goals in 65 games...may not be a highly touted guy but it seems like he knows how to put the puck in the net just looking at that.

I watch what I can, but dont know enough about all these teams to make an educated guess. Who do we like in these games tonight?

I watched most of the regional games, but that doesn't tell the full story for me. Also curious what players to keep and eye on. Thanks boys.

High scoring game. Duluth up 3-2 late in first period. Ive read Notrde Dame had a weak PK, and MDuluth already has 2 ppg's.

Yeah, once I see that McIlrath is playing in the next game, I'll be ordering it on AHL Live.

Outstanding play by Hagelin there on the empty net goal.

North Dakota owned that 3rd period for the most part... That was some nervous hockey to watch if you're a Wolverines fan.

I don't think it was mentioned here yet. Oshawa played Niagara last night. Thomas was scoreless and -1 in a 2-1 loss. Jason Wilson had a goal and an assist.

haha I'm not saying it wasnt good coaching on the part of ND. But there is no way they shouldve beaten Merrimack. Merrimack had that game against them. They gave up fluke/soft goals (merrimack did).
