John Hynes wins AHL Coach of the Year | Brad Thiessen wins AHL Goalie of the Year

Congrats John Hynes! The youngest coach in the league, in his first year as head coach in the pros and with a rookie assistant coach (Nasreddine) too. Jon Bombulie put it best: "The Penguins were winning at .750 clip when, in the first week of February, their roster was totally wrecked by call-ups and injuries. Their top seven scorers went up to Pittsburgh. Three of them never returned. Since then, they’re playing at a .710 clip."

Gone are the days of the likes of Glenn Patrick. Wilkes-Barre has become a bit of a coaches factory in recent years with Todd Richards and Dan Bylsma becoming NHL head coaches and Todd Reirden an assistant. But the Baby Pens have never had the official top coach in the league. Not anymore. While he's still only 36, how long until Hynes gets hired away like his three predecessors?

They better give him an extension ASAP. I heard Providence is looking for a new coach and he's from RI.

might as well add that thiessen won the bastien award for top AHL goalie, too. well-deserved honors for both men.

I would think his next stop would be the NHL.

Well deserved. Now DB needs to get his well earned honors at the NHL level.
