What if...?

Hypothetically, Ziggy doesn't opt to re-sign here. Who's left?

Who would you guys prefer?

Val Bure, Peter Bondra, Anson Carter?

I think if Carter could be had for cheap, then maybe, Bondra's too old for me. I'd go for Val Bure.

Considering JR & Demitra can both play on the wing, I'd say Lehoux.

Focus on your restricted FAs, a Defenseman and a tough guy.

If there's room, look to make a deal for more offense. Mogilny is better than all of those you listed, and I wouldn't even want him.

I think the Kings would rather have him start in Manchester, and see if he can duplicate his recent success.

I know, and it's fine.
But I don't want to see a crap UFA stealing ice time from our kids.
No Valeri Bure, no Whitney, no Brunette, no Carter.

I thought Mogilny was done due to his hip?

I would say stand pat and wait for another GM to pull a "Clarke" because you know it is bound to happen. Then Taylor can hold another team hostage for a decent forward and/or defenseman.

If healthy, this could be an interesting option.

Yeah exactly. But Albi you previous point isn't entirely clear to me. I mean if we sign Palffy, he's going to take time away from the kids too, so it'd be the same if we didn't sign him and got a lesser FA. It might even be better if we got a lesser fa because then that way AM might not give them as much time as he gives Palffy, and it's tricle down to the kids.

I'm more inclined to agree with Sponge, but I don't think they can stand pat on a Defenseman and enforcer.

I meant that if we sign a top player (and the only remaining player of this kind is Ziggy), then I'm ok with reducing the kids' ice time. Why? Because we're going to be one of the best team in the West...in a word: contenders.

Don't forget the season doesn't start for another 2 months. Alot of teams will be blowing their wad in the next week or 2. There is still time to wait them out and pick up a few bargain players or benefit from some overspending GM's who will have to unload some salary.

Defense is still out there at 2nd tier level.

Goonage: The mutually asurred destruction concept, (you mess with our skill guys, we're gonna get ya), to "protect" your skill guys is countered by a first strike philosophy. If Cowan jumps their skill guy first we'll have the upper hand. Their goon comes out gets an instigator then we move on. There's a lot of ways to play that. Let it be Avery, he's got that whole Sith thing going on anyway. Let it be Miller under the guise of "just playin tough" in front of his net and takin out teeth and knees. It isn't fair, but if you want toughness, it's all wrapped up in hitting first.

How about Whitney? If he get's top two ice time, he'll produce better than either of those guys.

Hey since the Kings love injury prone players don't forget that Lindros is still available.

It has also been rumored that the Kings might be interested in Teemu Selanne.
