They have to eliminate the complacency that has crept in slowly but surely since January.
Problem is this team was so damn hot up to Xmas that they seem to have just complacently slid to the end of the season.
There is a huge aura of arrogance about them, thinking it was going to be a breeze or something.
Get rid of the complacency, and get some momentum. Because honestly, this team has a first round exit written all over it as it stands, and we are only a week away.
This isn't a Rocky film. You can't just throw a montage in and all of a sudden the team is great again. Doesn't work like that.
They have to stop feeling sorry for themselves and start playing like there is no tomorrow.
Oh, and fix that ******* powerplay!!!
Best post of the thread. Especially the bolded part.
I will be very upset to squander a year where there was so much potential and expectation because of the success of the first half and last year's run. I don't like how we've given up tons of picks b/c we are in the win now mode and yet on the verge of being upset given their mental fragility most of all (not lack of talent). Pronger and Timonen are not getting any younger and our farm system is weak. We have a young core but at some point they have to show their meddle and stop with this immature approach to the season where they think they can turn it on etc. This malaise has yet to go away from the Stevens days. Thankfully, our losing streaks haven't been as long with Lavy but now I'm seeing that even creep back.
