Definitely wouldn't mind Palffy in Detroit. However, Wings don't have a ton of money to throw around. Can they afford him and will they be able to outbid other teams for him?

A Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Palffy line would be sick though

I'd love to have him if he can stay healthy and not screw us in resigning both Zata and Dats

I'd love to have either Palffy or Kovalev.

If they could get Palffy for decent money, then I wouldn't mind it. My only issue is that the guy has only played more than 70+ game twice in the last six seasons. He's injury prone. He can score which is needed. I just hope the Wings pick up a gritty winger with some offensive upside.

Only way we can afford Ziggy is if Datsyuk doesn't sign. That's just the facts.

I'm not talking about "our position" he was saying "Ziggy will be back in L.A. where he belongs." and i said they'd have trouble signing Demitra, Roenick and Palffy.

I see. I was just saying we can't afford Ziggy either. We lack a goalie, are 9 or 10 players short of a full roster, and only have about 11M to work with.

But the majority of those 9-10 players are going to be bottom end types making close to the league minimum. I agree with your earlier post saying that if we get Ziggy we don't get Datsyuk, but we could afford him. My guess is that no Datsyuk will mean Yzerman will get a long look at second line center. Whether he can handle it or not, who's to say, but I think that could be the plan.

I would guess that if Detroit decided to go with Palffy instead of Datsyuk that they would try Zetterberg at center.

A good number of the 8 players (14 signed now, 8 for later as Holland has stated he will have 21-22 players) will be the bargain basement types. Jason Williams has yet to sign. I can't see him making a whole lot. They need a 3rd pairing guy. That probably won't cost much. Kronwall won't cost much either and if Hudler is brought up full time in the NHL he's on the old rookie contract.

the only expensive RFA's to sign are Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Still hoping they get a cheap top 6 forward and going with Legace/Mcdonald, seeing as there really isn't anything out there goalie wise. At least free agent wise. Maybe someone like Noronen may be interesting??

I think you two have it nailed down pretty well. I agree we can fit 2 more players making a decent salary into the roster, and after that it's minimum wage earners. So it would be take your pick 2 of Zetterberg, Datsyuk or Palffy. Of course, if Datsyuk doesn't change his tune he'll have priced himself right out of the picture.
