Watched the last two periods and OT. Butler is a fackin boss! I have a sens jersey without a name and a number, and I think I just decided who's going on it tonight. He's quickly becoming my new favorite player. Him and Spez are unreal together.
Also loved the replay when they showed Spez going "WOW!" to Butler, that would be a sick .gif
Spezza and Butler grab HON honours. Such a great way to go out this season at home. I'm actually very excited about next year. Going to buy that 20 game package to get the all star tickets. The team is just fun to watch. Hopefully the new coach brings the same uptempo game ie please GOD no Dave Cameron. He has Craig hartsburg syndrome written all over him.
Wow, so the habs lose to a 26th placed team that "didn't even show up because they don't want to get injured for the golf season"...
holy crap, enjoy your 4 playoff games, boys
I do love how every time a team, that should obviously beat us, loses, goes on saying how their team was just relaxing for the playoffs. Rather than accepting the fact that they lost to Spezza and Anderson (and butler tonight).
It does make me laugh.
But again, Anderson played well, if he keeps it up (even lke 90% of what he`s done), Sens fans should be happy.
The goal Butler scored is proof-positive of why he's going to be a very good NHLer on this team. To pull off a move like that with such an enormous size difference against the on-body defender is so exciting.
I honestly don't hesitate to say that he could be a 20-goal scorer on this team as early as next season.
And I see Condra and Greening as good second/third line tweeners. I could see both pitching in 15 goals each.
With Michalek due for at least 20 goals (assuming health), Spezza due for at least 25 goals (assuming health) and Alfredsson still very capable of being a 20 goal man, there should be plenty of goal-scoring gusto next year.
Throw in a potential top six UFA signing like a Fleischmann, Laich or Upshall (all three capable of 20 goals), our first round draft pick and the progression of guys like Foligno and Regin...more than enough reasons to get excited.
And then, when you've wrapped your head around that, you remember that you have Karlsson, Gonchar and Rundblad on your blue line.
I mean, the make up of this team is just sick. Even modest point scoring projections, with decent coaching and a balanced defensively responsible game (which shouldn't be a problem with the commitment many of the players have to playing both sides of the puck) and Anderson in nets (who could scale back to a .915 sv%) and we're for sure going to be battling for a playoff spot. Hard to imagine we wouldn't be.
I had the game PVR'd, so I just watched it. Another pretty good performance by Jason and the kids (and Anderson, of course). I was pretty worried at the start of the game. I was afraid one of the announcers was going to perform an indecent sexual act on Subban! My goodness, they certainly love him. I can't even imagine what they would have done if he had actually scored.
Actually I thought they made it pretty clear that the only reason this game was on CBC was because of the Canadiens. The Senators just happened to be the opposition, and unfortunately for them, managed to win.
Anyway, the verrrry best thing about this game for me is that it is the last time I have to watch the fu#(&$ing CBC call a senators game for about 6 months. I for one will not miss them one little bit.
