So? We have talented players as well. So do all the other teams in the playoffs. I don't see your point.

LA is struggling right now. Penner has been horrid since Kopitar went down and has been called out in the papers by Murray. Williams is banged up. Brown is not scary. LA is very beatable right now. Phoenix would probably be an easier opponent, but it's close. Although less talented, they have a better system and goaltender.

You would be fine with playing Anaheim? If we end up playing them or SJ I think it's a guaranteed loss. Yeah, we beat them just a couple weeks ago, but that is most likely due to Hiller still being scrambled. Anaheim is scary come playoff time.

Our record of blowing opportunities is long and lengthy. I expect the points we gave up in the early part of the season have come back to haunt us.

I'm pretty nervous about who we'll play, but I feel pretty confident that we'll make the playoffs.

In reading some of the previous posts, I think I need to remind some folks that negative mojo should only be used by TRAINED PROFESSIONALS

personally, I think its a good thing that we have to approach tomorrow night knowing we are still playing for something..

whats gonna be really interesting is whether Trotz plays Rinne saturday if we have clinched a spot but not our position

if we have a shot at 4th I think we go full out but if we have no chance at home ice then Lindback may play.

Anaheim is super hot right now but I'm not scared of playing them any more than I would be worried about playing Chicago, PHX, LA. They have their strength and weaknesses just like any other team. Personally I think we could limit the Getzlaf line enough to win the series. You can't shut them down of course but if you could limit their line to one or two goals a game I would like our chances. Their goaltending and defense isn't gonna hold up IMO.

So much stuff has to go wrong for us to miss the playoffs. I'm not too worried about it.

OK - changed my mind - it's not just win - I want home ice!!

ANA - take LA in regulation
SJS - take PHX in regulation
go DAL, go Wings (gack - saying that's like gnash coughing up a fur-ball)

We like PHX though (compared to LA).

So much stuff?

If we lose our next two (not impossible) and...

Dallas wins their next two (COL and MIN, so, likely) in reg or OT, they finish above us.

Chicago wins one of their last two vs Detroit, they finish above us.

Anaheim wins one of their last two, they finish above us.

Yeah, I'm still saying quite a bit would have to happen. It's not impossible but I'm pretty confident we will be alright. No way this team loses 2 games in regulation to teams they should beat after the run they have had. They will get it done tonight and put everything to rest.

Don't forget Phoenix. They need 1 very hard point to pass us.

I'd say 4 teams passing us is pretty unlikely.

I think Phoenix misses the playoffs. 2 games against SJ who has easily beat them in every game this season. Hope I'm wrong cause I like them

What if Dallas wins both of their remaining games in the shootout?

My point exactly. More things need to go drastically wrong for the Preds to miss the playoffs than things that have to go right.

So Ana and LA are tied at one after two. We are rooting for LA to either lose in regulation or OT/shootout. If that happnes we control our destiny we regards to the 4th seed.

Did the bullwork and figured out what will happen with respect to other teams and the last game. First, the bottom line is if we win in regulation/overtime tomorrow we have the 4th seed and nothing can be done about it.

PHX: If we win tomorrow in SO and they win in R/OT they take the 4th seed. If we both lose in OT/SO we have the tiebreaker and will finish with a higher seed.

LA: If they win their last game and we lose in OT/SO we still win the tiebreaker with them. Only way they can pass us is they have to win and we have to lose in regulation.

ANA: Quite simply they have to win in any fashion and we have to lose in regulation.

CHI: They are a little more complicated. If we lose in regulation and they win in Regulation/OT they hop in front of us due to ROW.
If they win in SO and we lose in regulation they still hop in head of us I believe because we would be tied in ROW and after further analyzation it looks like they won the season series against us so they would win that tiebreaker. So basically if they win and we lose in regulation they hop over us.

Looking at it I guess it's impossible for us to slip to 8th considering LA/ANA play each other their last game and there is no possible outcome in which both could hop in front of us.

Not to scramble the egg, but we also could get 4th by losing in OT or shootout. In fact, with one point tomorrow against the Blues, only a win by the Yotes in San Jose will keep us out of 4th.
