I'm not dismissing them. You were referring to paying our homegrown talent, i.e. Anisimov, Sauer, Dubi and Cally. Although I love those 4 guys, they aren't going to lead us to a cup if one of Kreider or Thomas can't develop into an elite talent, of which i certainly have my doubts.

Werek? You serious dude. He might, one day, be a good NHL'r, but if you seriously think he could ever impact a team as much as Richards, you have some serious homer goggles on.

Werek was hurt this year but he could develop into a 50 point player. I am not saying he is Brad Richards, please stop spinning it. I like our core players, Dubi is only 25 years old, Cally 26, AA 22, Sauer 23, Staal 24, how do you know what they are going to be in 2-3 years.

They are all progessing year after year. I am looking to keep this core together and incorporate our incoming prospects, Stepan has been more than anyone expected, Sauer and McDonagh very sold 2nd pair, you will have to pay all of these guys eventually but if we keep going after free agents we are going to have to let some of these guys go.

I was discussing leading this team to a cup. We don't have anyone elite enough to do so, except hank. You then referred to not dismissing Werek in this regard, in which i replied that he is yet again, another nice, complementary player.

The rangers have a great core, that i agree with and truly enjoy watching. However, they don't have those elite, skilled players that you need to win a cup. The only two in our system that could potentially even break 40 goals/80 points seem to be Kreider and Thomas and both have some massive faults.

Sometimes you have to give to get. The rangers are going to have to part with some of their youngsters if they want to win the cup. You have to build through free agency or trades if your team isn't a lottery team.

Me neither. Lets just hope that if the Rangers do choose to sign him, that he is.

Good point. At 15 I would have understood that Boogaard was useless as well as grossly overpaid. Even at 70, some will not understand that.

the argument i do like is the one that goes something like "those that claim to know the game so well would be in it."

That argument honestly makes me laugh. I feel like the fan, who isn't getting paid, who isn't under pressure, who doesn't have to answer to a boss, who doesn't have to think inside the box, who doesn't have to be by the book, can sometimes form a very good opinion. People forget that the fan doesn't actually have a job to do, and therefore has the privilege of pure, undistilled, 100% observation. All the fan can do is study and observe, so I think the fans are smarter than many people give them credit for.

Did you, or anyone else, catch his joke last night.

A skeleton walks into a bar, he asks for a beer and a mop.

Al Trautwig then goes, what's the joke. Stan's like, that was it.
