Now that the Sox had a big inning for the first time of the year, I feel better.

On a side note though, does anyone else feel like Lackey is going to come right out and give it all back in the next two innings or so? I'm not confident in him at all.

Lackey struck out Tex and I go worried he was going to be effective this inning. But thankfully he has resorted to his old ways.

Even with a 6-3 lead, this team lacks simple fundamentals.

Meh, I agree that Lackey has been terrible, but him being the #2 starter is overrated...unless we're talking playoffs. Over the course of the year, if everyone is healthy, each starter will pretty much have the same number of starts.

Are you any more confident with Beckett and Matsuzaka? That alone left me puzzled how anyone could come out and call this team the best ever.

That god Lackey gave up a run he's gotta keep up his trend of a run for every inning pitched this year minus 1 inning in texas.

When Lackey pitched for the Angels, his whole demeanor was different. He had that whole F you vibe going for him, I honestly think he looks totally (I don't want to say scared) timid. It's like he got his big contract and the guy is just going through the motions. Where the heck is the guy from the Angels that would be yelling all the time and had that pissed off look in his eye?

This is obviously gonna be another Sox / Yankees 4 and a half hour game.

These teams can't just play a game in 3 hours or less......it's amazing

I believe he did that in Anaheim too, to be fair.

Well at least the damage was minimized this inning. Only one run allowed...

He just doesn't look like the same guy - I'm not talking about stats, but his whole demeanor and presence is a complete 180 from the way I remember him on LA.

I would start Tim Wakefield today over Lackey. Matsuzaka will get lit up in the 1st inning but at least he'll be fine for the next 3.

What is with this team? They nickel and dime their own guys but they'll grossly overpay for junk like J.D. Drew, John Lackey, and Carl Crawford.

$18 million a year......there is no way they take him out of the rotation, I could see a phantom injury to give him a couple weeks off if this continues. He will get at least 5 starts before anything like that happens though

Wow! Didn't take them long to knock Hughes out, did it? And old friend Bartolo Colon is in...

Of course, something tells me Lackey probably isn't long for this game either. Another classic Battle of the Bullpens between Boston and New York. Gee, what were the odds?

Since when did Colon get his 90+ mph fast ball back? When he was here he sat in the high 80's.

I'm not suggesting they do, but he's horrible. He's the 5th starter at best, and thats with two other questionable pitchers making a ****ton of money.

What are the chances:

A) Lackey pitches a scoreless inning
B) Pitches three more innings in this game
