Well Rangers fans, heres some more bad news.

Theres been whispers of Boucher resting St Louis, Malone, Hedman, Brewer, and Stamkos tomorrow. Probably be a few callups as well to fill the roster out.

The Lightning also have nothing left to play for as Pittsburgh locked up home ice (or Philly). Either way the Lightning are locked into the 5th spot and have a bunch of their star players that will either sit out the game completely, or play very very few minutes.

Heh.

Rangers deserve to not make the playoffs again.

Canes are gonna be the 8th seed.

Can't feel too bad for the Rangers when they were shutout at home by Atlanta. That's worthy of a playoff miss right there.

Would hate to be a fan of the Rangers if they don't make it, however.

I'll feel bad for Rangers fans if they don't get in again. They did turn it on down the stretch but it's looking like it probably won't be quite enough. That loss last night hurts bad, though. Same with the Islanders loss. If they had just gotten a point from one of those games they'd still be in a position to control their own fate.

Both teams deserve to make the playoffs, tho. I think every poster in here at one point thought one of the 3 teams remaining would have fallen off by now, but they're still playing solid hockey. (The Rangers are slipping, tho)

Seen a bunch of hockey over the last 40 years and never saw a team (Sabres) allowed to play ping pong with the puck in their zone for 35 seconds to wind out the clock! There were 5 Sabre players in front of Miller just standing around and the passing the puck to each other until Briere/Hartnell? said what the heck is going on here and skated in to disrupt the fun fest...

That scene needs to be posted on You Tube.

Canes win. They are tied, but Carolina has won both of their games in regulation. Both Rangers wins were in OT/SO.

I'll feel bad for the rangers if they miss it because they have won more games and have less OT/SO loses. Loser point will get the canes in

So we're looking at:

Caps vs Canes/Rangers
Flyers/Pens vs Tampa
Bruins vs Habs/Sabres
Flyers/Pens vs Habs/Sabres

That last 40 seconds was brought to you by the absurd NHL scoring system.

The NHL needs to go to a 3-2-1 system ASAP (preferably the 2-1 split only being for shootouts)

For NYR to miss two years in a row under similar circumstances would be tough.

Especially considering they're probably better than CAR and were probably better than MTL last year.

NYR had/has the better goal differential in both cases.

They're basically doing their best impression of the Mets to become New York's other choking team...I'm not sure if there has ever been a team that has spent more of the season 1-8 to miss the playoffs than the Rangers of this season, they've easily been in the top 8 spots for somewhere between 75-80 games.

How do you figure? Losing in game #81 on home ice to Atlanta is unacceptable. They put themselves in this situation and they deserve to miss.
