Enforcers would be a Hell of a lot more important if there wasn't an instigator, that's for damn sure. Guys like Cooke and Ruutu would have stopped their **** a long time ago.

I still don't think anything will happen tonight. And I don't even think Godard should, or will be dressed. We need to win this game, these two points are of the utmost importance, and dressing a guy to play 4 minutes and probably take a dumb penalty doesn't help the cause.

Honestly I don't think anything will happen tonight unless the Penguins want it to.

guys like cooke and ruutu didnt suddenly appear after the instigator penalty was brought in.

there were plenty of cheap players around before that.

ulf, claude lemiuex , dale hunter etc

The appeal, and use of the term 'agitator', definitely came in after the instigator penalty was implemented...but to say those types didn't exist beforehand is just flat-out wrong.

Though, to be fair, Ulfie, Claude, and Hunter were better than the agitators we know today...as much as we love Cookie, he's still a third liner. Hunter had over 1,000 points in this league.

After seeing this thread title and entering I'm REALLY glad this was not a serious question.
