I'd like to see a goaltending duo of Hedberg as the experienced veteran starter and Fasth as the up-and-coming backup.

I also echo the sentiments that the group of players in europe that possibly could make up the core of the WCH team is aging and not what it was. I hope they give as many of our non-established NHL:ers and AHL-players as possible a chance to try out for this tournament.

cheerupmurray and jfc64, no love for Tim Erixon at all? I think he'll tag along Rundblad and make it. It's not like I'd rather see a bunch of the hacks playing right now in the exhibition games going. I don't see how he would fare worse than Karlsson did last year for example.

Riddarn, Hedberg has said no already. I agree with the rest of what you said, go young.

if OEL and MPS played WC last year, why cannot Landeskog? Landeskog is too old for U18 and his season is over.

Try him.

Yeah ok why not try the young d-men. I don't doubt the Skellefteå guys offensive skills and abiliy to start attacks with nice first passes and great skating, I just think Erixon, Larsson and Rundblad have been a tad bit shaky in the defensive zone for my taste. It would be nice to pair them up with some good ol' veterans, but who would that be really? I agree that a guy like Kronwall that you thought would be a lock for the national team looks plain bad at the moment.

Grossman is a d-man I would love to see on the team, but he seems to be having some serious injury problems, theres really no d-men in AHL that I think should be there (except OEL, but Phoenix will hardly release him, while still in the playoffs) Enström is also injured at the moment, but would of course be a fantastic addition to the team. Oduya? I don't think he would like to come.

jfc64 suggested Frögren, thats maybe a guy for a unspectacular shutdown role. Fälth is too weak defensively, rather use one of the young kids instead. Niclas Hävelid would actually be a good choice, but he is retired from the national team I think.

It feels like sweden have tons of up and coming good young d-man, but it still kind of hard to find the right combination for this WC that would seem very solid both ways.

If Chicago somehow misses the playoff or is out in the first round I would love Hjalmarsson on the team.

not really. Eddie Lack, Hedberg, Viktor Fasth, Jhonas Enroth, Henrik Lundqvist (doh) have all been better than Gustavsson this season.

anyway, the current team is playing against germany is pitiful. How can renberg say that martin Thörnberg is a lock for team sweden?

maximum 2-3 player on this crappy team is going to make it.

Tim Erixon is simply TOO young imo. Players have to be exceptional talents (Adam Larsson) or a bit older (22-26) to grow in a WC.

Competition is high, indeed. Maybe the Monster is not quite living up to monster potential this season but he has done well in WC before. And together with Ersberg and Fasth or Nilsson they are immediately available. Lundqvist - Ersberg - Gustavsson?

Nice to see Klas Dahlbeck still on the pre-WC team.

When was the last time someone had a breakthrough season like him? At the start of the season he wasn't even scheduled to play in the SEL this season, but he forced himself onto the team with great play in the pre-season and he has just grown immensely since then.

Tim Erixon is 9 months younger than Erik Karlsson, but as we all know built like a man already. If 19yo 75kg EK could play, I'm sure 20yo 95kg Erixon will manage if he gets the chance.

Ekholm's breakout season this year would rank ahead of Dahlbeck, although he's older.

Tambellini already said Paajarvi will be going btw.

I would like Jacob Josefson on the team, I have watched quite a few New Jersey games lately and he impressed the hell out of me. He is not yet a dominant player, but he is so clever and is quietly prodducing points and goal scoring oppertunities while doing a good defensive job.

All things considered I think it might be a fun team to watch. There will probably be a lot of WC-rookies on the team.

considering BÅG played a lot of rookies last year, I expect mårts to go with a young team also. I absolutely loathe the current tre kronor playing germany and slovakia. Björn melin, fernholm, staffan kronwall, widing, lol.

this is my team:

Nilsson-Berglund-Eriksson(omark)
MPS-Backlund-Tedenby
Omark-Josefson-Silvferberg
Persson-Steen-plug

Karlsson-Rundblad
Erixon-Hjalmarsson
Ekholm-OEL
Petrasek

Enroth
Fasth
Lindback

Would absolutely love to see this team. Great roster.

One note though, if Steen comes he will be a freaking star of the team and not stuck on the fourth line with a plug though He is quietly becoming a great player. Maybe we can stick him on that first line if Eriksson or Steen can play rightwinger.

No, but the competition is much steeper this year. And Phoenix plays Stanley Cup, so those players that arrive late have to be stars.

How is Ericsson not on that roster? Has he declined? Otherwise he is a set piece.

PS. Didn't Red Wings lose a series to Phoenix lately? And when we're at it, can Chicago beat Canucks once again? For now I say no and believe in these players

Removed Alfie from the list.
Thanks!

It was quite a lot of info in one sweep which made our team look more vulnerable. Now we must really hope Erik Karlsson and Loui Eriksson can join. If they do we look like a dark horse in this tournament.

A new edit above, intresting news.

We got some players coming after the first round. I would guess that OEL, Hedman, Hjalmarsson & Lundquist all will be available and probably wanted too.

Eriksson, Grossman and Wandell has accepted! Erik Karlsson (20) and his 25 stiches should be fine in a few days. He probably visits the distriktssköterska (living area chief nurse) right about now.

Now we need a star goalie and a rightwinger.

Eriksson - Berglund - Tedenby
Pääjärvi - Backlund - Omark
Nilsson - Persson - Andersson
Thörnberg - Wallin - Ericsson

Wandell

Axelsson - Sjögren

Karlsson - Ekholm
Gunnarsson - Rundblad
Grossman - Petrasek

Ekman-Larsson - Hedman / Erixon
Fernholm / Hjalmarsson

Lundqvist / Lindbäck / Enroth
Ersberg
Fasth / Nilsson / Läck
